I love this chapter :'')

"You're looking skinnier, Margret."

Maggie's mom is a nut case.

Nothing against her. Her and I just won't get along well. Hopefully I'll only be required to see her once a year.

She's cold and uptight, and she talks a lot about herself. She seems like the typical older generation grandparent. The kind that you can't spend too much time with.

Maggie's sister, Madeline, fucking Christ I think she's worse than their mother.

She was thirty something, looks just like Maggie, and all she complained about was how much she missed her twenties and how girls like me don't understand life. It sounds like she somehow got screwed over in her twenties and now she's bitter that she's not the first daughter to get married.

The sense of entitlement that was definitely inherited by only Madeline is extremely irritating. Like who gave her the right to think she's better than everyone?

I'm not sure how Maggie became the kind and compassionate person that she is. If that was my family, I'd be mean, and bitter, and frankly, a bitch - just like Madeline is.

"I think this is the one," Maggie smiles as she stares at herself in the mirror.

"Don't you think the lace is a bit much?" Maggie's mom asks.

I fight the urge to roll my eyes. Anything that shows skin is apparently too much for her. I wonder what she thinks of my cropped tank top and high waisted shorts look.

"What do you think, Corrine?" Maggie asks.

Everyone turns to look at me, the two blondes from the left giving me dirty looks each.

"I think it's really pretty," I say truthfully. The dress is exactly what she wanted, sleeves lined with lace, tight on the top poofy on the bottom. "It's what you wanted, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it is," She says loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Well, it is your day after all," I seem to have to remind her. She glances at her mother in the mirror, I do the same. She didn't seem too happy.

"But I think any dress you choose would look pretty on you Maggie. You're happy with it?"

She has a big smile on her face, "Thank you honey. And yes, I'm very happy with it."

"Then you should get it," I tell her. "I think it's perfect."

She looks at herself one last time in the mirror. She seems to be thinking really hard whether or not she should get it.

"I liked the first one," Madeline says.

I bite my tongue hard. If Maggie wanted her opinion, she would've asked.

Maggie looks towards the sales lady who looks rather annoyed with all of us. I honestly would be too.

"I'll take it," Maggie smiles at her.

"Oh, perfect! I'll ring this right up," The sales lady says and walks away. I wish I could walk away from the two to my left.

"I'll take care of that," Maggie's mom says as she stands. She walks
towards the cash register.

"If you have to go you can Corrine," Maggie says. Music to my damn ears.

"Are you sure?" I glance down at my phone to see it was almost three. Sarah was supposed to get here any minute.
