"Thank you honey, have a nice day!"

With a smile on my face, I walk out of the small convenience store. I begin reading the back of the package, apparently these things can't be tracked. I guess that's why he wanted me to get this thing. I rip open the package containing the burner phone and toss the plastic in the trash.

I begin walking back to my car, knowing that it will be the only place where I will be completely alone. The last thing I need is for someone to hear our conversation, which, I assume the news is not good.

Either way good or bad we have to talk about what happened with him and Sarah. He was drunk off his ass that day - I wonder if he even remembers.

I get out the small black flip phone and look up the number Rafe gave me to call. A few seconds later, I hold it up to my ear. It rings for a while, I was almost worried he gave me the wrong number.

"Cory?" There he is.

"Hey," I whisper, even though I know no one's listening. "What's going on?"

"Don't freak out okay?"

"Okay," I say slowly.

"The cops raided my house this morning," My stomach immediately sinks. "My dad told me not to come home."

"Raided? As in, they know something's up?"

"Yeah," Rafe says shortly. Well that's not good.

"Well, what do we do?" Did Sarah do this?

"I don't know. But it's gotta be bad if my dad says to not come home."

"Well where are you?" I ask. "I'm still in the main part of town, if you want to meet me somewhere?"

"...You uh, remember where Barry lives?" He asks.

"...Yeah." Why the hell is he with Barry.

"Okay. Don't park your car in the driveway. Ditch the phone and leave yours at home."

"Leave my phone at home?" I repeat, "Rafe, don't you think this is a bit much?" Acting like this is just going to make the cops believe he did this even more. He has to act natural.

"No, Corrine. It's not. This is what we need to do. Do what I say and I'll see you here soon and explain more," He snaps.

"Okay."

"Bye."

I hang up the phone and immediately start the car. After driving for a minute or so, I toss the burner into one of the little ponds along the roadside. So if the cops invaded his house, I guess that means they figured it all out. Or, a version of it. I wonder if Ward was taken into custody.

I wonder if Rafe is going to get taken into custody.

As soon as I get to my house, I jog to the front door. I carefully opened it after a few seconds, tucking my phone beneath some of the blankets that were in a basket in the front living room.

Maggie is on the phone with someone, I assume its my father; but she doesn't need to know what's going on. If something were to happen, it's best for her to not know where I am at all. I don't want her involved in this, she's already stressed about the wedding. She doesn't need to worry about me too.

I close the front door slowly and gently, making sure it doesn't slam shut. I turn on my heel, and quickly walk down the wooden steps and back to my car.
