It was only July, but being the somewhat organized person that I am - I decided to start to get things for school now.

"See I don't understand why girls need all this shit," Rafe says while digging through the bin of comforters. "Just pick a plain colored one and move on."

We're currently at the touristy shopping plaza up near the bridge to get on the island. It was about a twenty minute drive north. Which is stupid, it shouldn't take that long. But there's one road that leads up the entire island, it makes traffic a bitch.

"I want one that I'll actually like," I say. He pulls out a plain white one and I shake my head. "White is a bold move, things can get on it."

"We could always lay a towel down," He says with a serious head nod. I tilt my head to the side as I glance up at him.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"For when I come visit you," He explains, still holding the comforter wrapped in plastic. "When I fuck you on this, we can lay a towel down so we don't ruin it."

My cheeks burn from embarrassment, "Rafe..." I look at the lady who was standing very close to us. She gives the pair of us a dirty look and walks away.

He snickers, "Oops."

"You're an idiot," I say with a smile forming on my lips.

"I'm just keeping your stupid comforter in mind," He says with an innocent shrug. "I think you should get it."

"Okay, okay," I give in while attempting to grab the package from him. He moves at the last second, basically telling me I didn't have to grab it. He walks away, voluntarily holding onto the comforter.

"What else do you need?" He asks. "Sheets?" I nod, and he walks to the next aisle to grab a set. I watch as he picks out a grey pair that was folded nicely.

"These go together well," I tease. He rolls his eyes, a smile popping onto his lips. "Looks like girl's aren't the only ones that care about this 'stupid shit'."

"It's not that I necessarily care," He tells me. "I've just been doing this shit for ten years now."

"Been doing what?" I ask.

"Rose has embedded matching things and looking nice into our brains," He explains.

"I always forget she comes from a family like that," I say. He nods.

"Cotillions, formal gatherings, dinner party's," He says with a shake of his head. "She's obsessed with the old money type of lifestyle."

"Right," I say, pursing my lips. "It's weird how we're both from wealthy families but still live two different lives."

"Your dad grew up doing all the things that I had to do," He says. "We talked about it a couple of years ago."

"Really?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows. "I didn't know that." He doesn't tell me much, I shouldn't be that surprised.

He nods, "He gave me his cotillion suit from when he was around my age."

"It's more then I've ever gotten," I joke with a smile. He frowns as he looks down at me. "It was a joke, he does a lot for me."

"Besides spend time with you." Yeah, thanks for reminding me.

"My dad thinks that he can buy me things to get me to forgive him," I say. "Meaning he's not actually sorry for his actions, so he continues to do them."

"Which explains why you're alone all the time," Rafe adds. I nod slowly as we walk around the store.

"I don't mind being alone," I explain as I hug the packaged sheets to my body. "It's just really at night it bothers me."
