My knock on the front wooden door of the Cameron house echoes through the large estate.
I stare down at the message from Rafe, telling me that I should come over asap. It scared me - how could someone send a message like that without any context? I nervously run a hand through my hair as I hear footsteps approaching the door on the other side. The door swings open to reveal a confused looking Rafe.
"Why the hell are you knocking?" He asks with a chuckle. He was wearing a light pink almost coral shirt, it was cute.
I shrug, "It's not my house." My eyes return back to his. "Why are you here?"
"Picking up some things," He explains. "My dad's not home."
"Oh," I say, he opens the door wider for me to walk in. "What was come over asap part then?"
"I just wanted to see you," He says with a goofy grin. "I missed you." I sigh while trying not to smile as he pulls me into his embrace.
"I thought it was an emergency Rafe," I say. "I sped to get here."
"That's how you should respond to my texts anyway," He says as he kisses the top of my head. "Aren't you going to say you missed me too?"
"I saw you two days ago," I tell him, as if he didn't know. He lets go of me and raises an eyebrow.
"And?" He says, tucking some hair behind my ear.
I smile, "I missed you too." He takes ahold of my hand, and we both turn around to walk back towards the stairs. "Is anyone here?"
"No," He says. "They still keep the key under the same rock though." I nod as we walk up the wooden stairs. "What'd you do today?"
"Talked with Maggie mostly," I say. "She helped me organize my room."
"Oh?" He says as he tilts his head. "Is this the white flag waving between you two?"
"I guess," I say with a chuckle. "She's not as bad as I thought."
"When she offered me food the other night, I thought the same thing," He says as we walk into his room. "If she was a bitch I'd fucking kill her."
I chuckle, "Sure you would." I walk further into his room and sit on his bed. "Your room looks different."
"Doesn't it?" He says as he starts opening some drawers. "It just looks empty." I seem him push his lips out as he starts pulling clothes from the drawers. He looked upset.
"He'll let you come home soon," I reassure him. "He has to."
"I don't need to come home that badly," He says. I knew he was lying. "I kind of like it on my own."
"Where exactly have you been staying?" I ask. "If it's Topper's you can move back into-"
"It's not," He says with a chuckle. "It's one of Rose's properties, on the back of the marsh."
I nod, "Does she know you're staying there?"
"No," He says shortly. I nod as he walks back over, plopping down next to me on his navy comforter. He takes ahold of my hand and laces our fingers together. "Do you wanna spend the night?"
I nod, knowing we haven't done that in a while, "Yeah."
"Okay good," He says. He leans in, and presses his soft lips to mine. He lets go of my hand to move it towards my cheek. "I missed you angel."
"You said that already," I giggle. He smiles and pokes his finger into my side.
"I missed kissing you like this, how's that, fit to your standards?" I grin and meet our lips together again. They start to move effortlessly in sync, his hand slides to the back of my neck to keep us in the position we were in. He was so good at this, it was scary.
