"Lennon, that was amazing! Your timing is perfect," Ned laughed and high fived him.
"Look what you did to my dress!" She screeched.
"I didn't actually mean to but it serves you right. You shouldn't have insulted Thea like that," Lennon shrugged.
The girl stamped her foot and stormed off towards the cul-da-sac beyond the pack house grounds as her friends all stood with their mouth's open. One girl, a girl Thea remembered as being quite the little bully, looked like she smelt something foul as she scrunched up her nose. "It's Thea. I mean, she is not exactly the kind of person you would expect to be the mate of....well anyone, actually. And certainly not a Zeta. She would be the servant, yes, or the chef but not the mate. I mean," she looked Thea up and down, trying to find the words. "Come on, she is not that good-looking, and she is a complete nerd!" She looked around waiting for someone to back her up. No one did.
"Watch it!" Maverick warned.
Another girl, Liza, scoffed. Liza used to torment Thea when they were younger. She would accidentally spill drinks on her or knock Thea's lunch out of her hands in school. They were harmless for the most part, but it did leave Thea with a distaste for the girl. "What is so special about her? I mean, how can you, a Zeta, actually think that Thea is a good enough mate?"
Bowie could feel his knuckles crack against the tension as he clenched his fists. Besides Amiah, there was not one person who had anything good to say about Thea. And he knew it was totally unwarranted and unfair. "Actually, I think she is amazing. I mean, she managed to grow up surrounded by self-centred morons like you, and she managed to come out pretty perfect. It's quite an accomplishment." Liza was completely lost for words as she turned and stamped off.
Next up to bat was a woman who was dragging her daughter behind her. She stopped in front of the couple and gave Thea a funny look. "Excuse us, Tia. I would like to speak to the Zeta alone."
"It's Thea, Mrs Moklavich. You know this. You used to work for my father," Thea said, folding her arms but turning to give them some privacy. She stepped towards Tristan and Amiah, who were chatting happily with Jackson and a few of the boys from school.
But she could hear everything the woman said.
"Sorry to interrupt your night, Zeta, but I wanted to introduce my daughter Helen to you. She is at the top of her class at school and she is the captain of the lady's football team. She comes from a great heritage, and I believe she would be a much better mate for you than that...other girl."
"Oh really?" Bowie smirked but only to hide how pissed off he was.
"Yes sir," she said, shoving her daughter forward. "She has not had a boyfriend before, so you know she is untouched, which is more than I can say for your mate there. I don't mean to speak ill of Paul's daughter, but she has had her fair share of men. It was such a shame as she had so much potential."
"Well, mother, you know that she stopped binge drinking and attends classes now to help. Give her some credit," Helen smiled sweetly.
Bowie couldn't believe what he was hearing. Thea couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"I just think that you should consider your reputation when choosing the girl you want by your side to rule. I mean, with Thea in charge, you would lose the respect of many packs." The woman went on.
"Is that so?" Tristan said as he stepped forward, having heard everything.
"And who would these packs be?" Alpha Hanson asked. "Are these the people who told you that Thea had some sort of imaginary drinking problem?"
