Goodbye

Thea stood at the car with Bowie, her arms wrapped around his waist. She couldn't bring herself to let go. "I will be back in a few days," he said, kissing her head, although he knew how she was feeling. Bloody miserable.

"I know, but I am going to miss you," she pouted.

He smiled at how cute she looked with her bottom lip stuck out. "Well, I am glad. There would be something wrong if you didn't. But I will ring you as soon as I am back in our territory. And you have exams to study for."

She rolled her eyes at the reminder. The last thing she had on her mind right now was studying. "I will be starting revision tomorrow during our first tutoring session."

Bowie sighed. He had already warned the boys about keeping an eye on Greyson. Not that he needed to. They both adored Thea and would protect her. It was the only reason that he was allowing her to stay and not begging her to come with him. "Just keep an eye on Greyson. I don't trust him."

Thea looked up at Bowie. His eyes were full of concern as he memorised every detail on her face. She knew he wasn't just being jealous of the ex. She didn't trust him either, and she had absolutely no intention of allowing him to be alone with her. Not that she couldn't handle herself. "I promise I will. And I will have Kyle, Lennon, and Tristan to keep me safe too."

"I know," he sighed, leaning his head against Thea's. "I better get going, or I am not going to be able to leave." He kissed her again for what seemed to everyone else like the millionth time, and yet it didn't feel like enough to the couple. They both knew it was going to be a tough week. When a wolf finds their mate, there is this pull towards them. Like they are your centre. You always want to be around them. Being in their presence calms you down and relaxes you. They are your safety net and home. When you are apart – no matter the distance, you pine for them. And it doesn't get better with time. If anything, it gets worse.

Finding your mate is known as ceangal grá. In earlier centuries, it is said that when you meet your true mate, a piece of your soul detaches from your body and is consumed by your mate's soul and vice versa, so they have a piece of you with them always. If your mate rejects you, that piece of your soul is lost forever, and you are never whole again. Thea always thought it was just an old wives tale, but she now had a newfound appreciation for the stories. She fully believed that she had given a part of her soul to Bowie.

"You will call me when you get home?" She asked, pecking his lips.

"Before I have even got out of the car," he held up his pinky to show he promised.

"Can we get going?" Maverick called out of the window of the black car. "I want to get back to my girl." Bowie just growled in response.

"Don't worry," Kyle said from behind the couple. "We will look after her."

"That's what has me worried," Bowie smirked. He gave Thea one last kiss and then reached into the car and produced a small box. "This is for you. Open it after I leave," he instructed.

"You got me a gift?" Thea asked, surprised. He had no idea she was his mate or that he would even meet her this weekend, so when did he have time to get this?

"It's just something silly," he shrugged. He looked around at the pack members who were there to see him off giving one last goodbye to everyone. He turned back to Thea and kissed and hugged her, lifting her off the ground as he did.

"I miss you already," she whispered.

"You are my sun, moon, and stars, Thea Davis. I am eternally grateful that I have got this chance to be with you, and I am excited to begin our forever." He caressed her cheek and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
