"Valeria?"

I responded to Sir Ken calling my name by looking up from the notebook I'm focused on writing notes on. I'm back to how I usually am. That hit I did on Ivan was a big help. Now I'm catching up on the notes I missed. May quiz pa naman next week so need ko 'to for review.

Tumabi si Sir Ken sa akin, nakatayo sa tabi ng desk ko, something na he doesn't do everyday.

"Bakit po?"

"The quiz this week, tell Ivan to take it."

Binaba ko ang ballpen na hawak. "Why me?"

"He's your partner," he reminded me as if I forgot.

"I'm not responsible for him," I reasoned.

He sighed before speaking. "Tell him if he doesn't take this quiz I'll fail him for this whole subject."

Nakakainis na hindi niya pinakinggan ang sinabi ko pero nagpantig ang tenga ko doon sa sinabi niya. "Fail him?"

"Yes, tutal twice a week lang siya umattend ng klase, he can skip na until the year ends." Sir gave my shoulder a gentle pat. "Asahan kita. Kai and Aiko won't help anyway." He gave me an intent smile. "Okay lang ba?"

At least nagtanong siya kung okay lang. Pero kahit hindi naman okay ay need kong gawin 'yun. I'm sure the dean won't like Ivan failing a subject.

I watched as Sir Ken walked back to the front of the class. Staring at his back, Ivan's face flashed in my mind. That annoying, grinning face.

"Fuck..."

I took my phone out of my blazer's pocket. I then proceeded to type a message to Ivan. The guy's online but I'm sure he'll just ignore me. Never naman niya akong nireplyan. Puro pdf lang naman ng notes 'yung sinend ko. But he still reads my chats. Alam niya sigurong naiinis ako d'on.

To: Ivan
Hoy, where are you?

"Valeria, no phones in class."

Napataas ang tingin ko kay Sir mula sa phone ko. Nasa ibabaw lang naman ako ng desk nag-type ng chat kaya kita. Minata naman ako ni Sir.

"I'm asking Ivan where he is," I said out loud so he can hear. "You said to tell him to take the quiz."

Nagkatitigan kami ni Sir hanggang sa siya ang sumuko. Siya ang may gustong gawin ko 'to so 'wag siyang magreklamo. I can do this after class but I want to show him I'm doing what he told me so doing it in front of him is the best way. And wala naman na rin akong ginagawa since ako ang naunang matapos sa activity niyang sobrang dali kaya nagno-notes nalang ako bago niya ako utusan tungkol doon kay Ivan.

I heard snickering from my classmates. It was easy to distinguish that it was Aiko and Kai 'cause they're both looking at me.
