TW: Talk about Death

***

"How's your studies, Val?"

I almost laughed out loud when Nana asked that question. I gave her a look of amusement. "Terrible."

"Why?"

"Well, someone made me the note-taker of a dyslexic guy." I looked down on my food. "I wonder who that is."

"Note-taker?" Uncle Maxim asked, taking interest. "Really primitive."

"How terrible is it?" it was Vanya.

"Rate it out of ten," Vlad added.

I shrugged. "Eleven."

"I'm surprised you still haven't killed him," Violet wondered.

"Violet." Dada's warning tone made her immediately smile

"What? Just asking."

Uncle Maxim beside her laughed at her daughter's comment.

"Who put you up to it?" asked Viktor this time.

"Who?" I glanced at Nana, shrugging after and continuing on my meal.

"That was your punishment for breaking the window of your Dean's car."

Violet stopped on her drink, eyes wide. "You broke what?"

"Violet." Dada warned her again, making my cousin roll her eyes.

"I'd rather pay for the repair and talk it out with him," saad ko.

"Your punishment is to discipline you."

I scoffed at Nana's words. "Disciplined by whom? You or him?"

Nagbuga ng malalim na hininga si Nana. "I'm not gonna let you use our money to pay that even if you want to do it."

"Who says I still use your money? "

She raised a brow. "Your father gives you money?"

Her tone was insulting, making me look at her sharply. "What do you expect?"

Nakangising umiling si Nana. "I'm sure it's just a meager percentage of what we give you."

"At least it didn't come from you."
