"You're like a hero," Mary commented as she ate her second cupcake. She won the battle between her, Ethan, Carl and Narda on who takes the last cupcake since lima 'yung natira.
"Not gonna do that again." I shook my head. "That ungrateful shit got me all worked up."
Speaking of that shitty guy, I saw him walk past our table with his friends. Nakatanaw siya sa amin this time. Sa akin pala, nakatitig siya sa akin hanggang sa makalayo na sila. Galit na naman ang tingin niya, magkasalubong muli ang mga kilay niya. I gave him the same energy, not backing down.
"He apologized," Narda said. "With a half-dozen of cupcakes."
"Nakakainis pa rin 'yung ginawa niya."
"But you don't really have to do what you did," said Carl. "Pero you helped him naman."
"And he shouldn't be angry that you helped him," Ethan added.
"Pero siguro no one has done that to him kaya inisip niya you're pitying him," saad ni Mary.
"Sinasalba ko lang naman 'yung grade ko," I explained. "If he doesn't pass, madadamay ako."
"So you're not really concerned with him?" Carl asked.
"A bit, I guess. Nakakainis din kasi si Sir Ken."
"Never knew he's like that," Narda commented. Na-kwento ko rin kasi yung about sa behavior ni Sir Ken towards Ivan. They did not like it.
"If mabait siguro si Ivan, araw araw kong gagawin 'yun. Kaso hindi." Napa-irap ako sa hanging. Naalala ko palang ang mukha niya naiinis na 'ko.
"Don't stress yourself with him too much," Ethan told me.
"You say that as if it's easy."
Ivan makes everything hard for me, how am I not gonna stress out on everything he does?
After lunch, bumalik na rin kami sa room namin. There was still time left, mga five minutes, nang makabalik ako before our next class so nagbasa muna ako. I did not get interrupted by a person sitting beside me because Ivan skipped afternoon classes. I thought he'll just be late but when our first afternoon subject ended, he was still not there.
I would've celebrated. Syempre, wala 'yung kinaiinisan ko ngayong araw. Kaso, when Sir Ken arrived, my day didn't go well again. Not because of Sir Ken, partly siguro, but because of Ivan skipping.
"Val."
Napatingin ako sa nakaupo sa harap ko. May inabot siya sa akin na papel kaya kinuha ko iyon. With furrowed brows, I checked what it was.
