Owen clears his throat "Okay, folks. Let's just start. As many of you know, Seattle Grace Mercy West has suffered a financial setback. The administration is working hard to keep the impact of that setback as small as possible. To that end, we're gonna have to initiate some cost-cutting measures. The board has hired a physician advisor to help"
"What's a physician advisor?" Meredith asks
"Well, she consults on maximizing efficiency, streamlining processes, assessing where we can trim our budgets" Owen replies
"Who to fire and when to fire them?" Madelyn comments
"She's here to advise and to help. I was hoping to introduce her in person, but she seems to be late" Owen says ignoring Madelyn's comment
"Oh, on her first day? Not very efficient" Cristina snarks
"You can expect to see her in the halls, in your labs, in the O.R."
"So we're gonna have an accountant following us around the O.R. s?" Derek asks
"She's not an accountant. She is a trained surgeon. Frankly, she is here to try to help us" Owen defends
"Oh, okay. Help us. Right" Madelyn says bitterly
Owen again ignores her "Thank you for your cooperation" he says dismissing everyone

Shepherd and Shepherd, this is Alana Cahill. She is our physician advisor" Owen says grabbing the attention of the siblings
"Derek Shepherd. Neuro" Derek says introducing himself
"Madelyn Shepherd, Trauma...
"And Ortho" Alana says finishing her sentence for her "Double board certified, very impressive" she says before turning her attention to Derek "I saw you're doing an acoustic neuroma. Very exciting"
"First thing tomorrow. Patient's here today" Owen says
"Are pre-op overnight stays typical in all departments?" Alana asks Derek
"That is a question for chief Hunt. If you'll excuse me, I have to prep" he replies dismissing himself
"Hmm. Well, I'll see you in the O.R. tomorrow" Alana says making Derek stop
"Typically, you need to be invited" he says
"If things were running typically, I wouldn't be here, now would I?" Alana replies making Madelyn raise her brow impressed by the woman's boldness

"Brian Turner, age 55. Minor head injury. Vital signs stable" the paramedic says
"Fell off the damn ladder cleaning the damn gutter" the patient adds
"I was gonna say all that" the paramedic mutters
