Madelyn sits on the end of Meredith's bed staring at Alex in shock "So, Andrew called off the trial?" she asks
"Yeah" Alex says just as surprised as Madelyn, Mer and Maggie
"For you?" Madelyn questions
"Yeah" Alex says again
"Why?" Meredith asks
Alex shrugs "No clue"

"Wilson, what do we have?" Madelyn asks walking into the ER
"Trauma 2. 1! Trauma 1" Jo corrects herself despite still not answering the question
"I said, "What do we have?" Madelyn repeats
"Oh, uh, uh, a patient... a trauma patient in Trauma" Jo trails off as she yawns " 1. Sorry. That's all I know"
"I went to your house last night, tried to find you ended up falling asleep on your couch, hope you don't mind, anyway point is you didn't show up so i'm gonna guess you were here"
"No" Jo denies
"How many hours you been working?" Madelyn asks the resident
"I'm fine"
"You did a full shift before going to Tri-County. That was an all-nighter. And you worked yesterday!" Madelyn exclaims
"I just need some coffee" Jo replies
"How many hours?" Madelyn asks again
"30...something" Jo admits
"Okay. Go home" Madelyn demands
Jo shakes her head "No, no, no, no! I'm okay. I'm okay"
"No, you're not. And I'm not gonna risk you making a mistake 'cause of exhaustion" Madelyn says as she goes to open the doors to the trauma room
"Okay. I'm going" Jo replies but stops when she sees Madelyn's patient, a woman wrapped in razor wire "Is that razor wire? I'm staying" Jo says
"Home, Wilson- you know what Dr. Hunt" Madelyn says
"Dr. Shepherd" Owen replies
"You've got a new patient" she says guessing towards the woman wrapped in razor wire, Wilson and I are leaving. Let's go bambi" Madelyn says

After collecting Alexis from daycare and driving Jo and the baby back to Madelyn's place, the brunette let Jo fall asleep on the couch, and left the resident to sleep all day
"What time is it?" Jo asks when she finally wakes up
"A little after 8" Madelyn replies
"You said you were looking for me last night? How come?" Jo asks
"I saw Alex" Madelyn says
"What?!" Jo exclaims "How?"
"He was at Mer's, he went to take the plea but DeLuca dropped all charges" Madelyn says
"He's not in prison?" Jo asks
"Nope, he's probably in bed or in the refrigerator"
"Thank you, for looking after me" Jo says getting up "I just-"
"Go get your man" Madelyn says knowing exactly where Jo was leaving to, as she's about to respond April walks in
"Go get your girl" Jo whispers
"Shut up" Madelyn replies
"Wilson, are you staying for dinner?" April asks
"I can't tonight- I need to-" Jo mumbles as she passes the redhead out of the apartment
"What's wrong with her?" April asks
"A lot" Madelyn replies "How come you're back so late?" she asks
"Oh um Bailey wanted to talk to me" April says as she starts busying herself in the kitchen
"About what?" Madelyn asks joining the redhead
"Have you been home all day?" April asks
"Pretty much" Madelyn replies "Why?"
"So you wouldn't know Bailey suspended Meredith for disagreeing with her decision regarding Webber and Minnick" April says
"Meredith's suspended?" Madelyn questions "Bailey didn't suspend you to did she?" she asks "I swear if she-"
"She offered me Meredith's job" April blurts out "And I took it" she adds "And now everyone is going to hate me, again"
As soon as the word 'hate' leaves Aprils mouth Madelyn immediately pulls the redhead in for a hug, she holds her head to her chest and rest her chin on top of Aprils head
April is taken back at first but a second later she's got her arms wrapped around Madelyn's waist
"I can tell a part of you is mad" April says lifting her head to meet Madelyn's gaze
"Only because i'm gonna have to listen to everyone talk about you behind your back" Madelyn replies
"It's okay, I can handle it" April says
"No, it's not okay." Madelyn replies in annoyance
"Maddy-"
"It's rude!" Madelyn exclaims releasing April from her arms
"Please don't yell at me, I don't-"
"Want to fight? Yeah me either" Madelyn yells
"Then stop yelling and just hold me, please" April whispers
So Madelyn does "I know you can handle it, but you shouldn't have to" she says softly
"We're not married anymore Mads, you don't have to protect me" April says
"I know" Madelyn whispers sadly "I know"
