"Josephine Wilson , how does it feel to be a second year resident?" Madelyn asks excitedly

"Like I rule the world" the girl replies

"Yeah, you definitely don't bambi" Madelyn says making the girl frown "But i'm still proud, and if you keep hanging out with me you will rule the world"

"You suck" Jo replies

"Alex got an plans for you tonight?" Madelyn asks wiggling her brows

"Nope" Jo replies "He's been- weird, I don't think he wants to be with me anymore" she says

"Are you sure? Did something happen?"

"I don't -I don't know" Jo sighs

"How about we talk about it tonight over drinks? My treat for you passing your intern exams" Madelyn suggests

"Ugh, I love you" Jo says "I should just date you"

"Yeah, you should" Madelyn grins

Madelyn sees Stephanie walk by "Edwards, I just saw your broken ankle. No surgery, just splint it" she says to the resident who nods in response

Madelyn hands over some paper work to the nurse and let's out a deep sigh

"Everything okay?" A voice asks

Madelyn looks to her left coming face to face with April "Always" she replies

"You're an awful liar Madelyn Shepherd" April replies

"I'm perfect at everything I do" Madelyn replies

"...Apart from lying" April says raising a brow "What's up"

Madelyn sighs deeply as she tries to hide the fact she could cry any second "Uhh- I...my leg-me leg is just. It's been over a year and my leg still bothers me sometimes" Madelyn says laughing dryly "It's not even the pain that's the worst part, it's the memories that the pain brings up"

"Oh Mads" April says placing a hand on her shoulder, she looks around at the busy ER "Come on, let's go somewhere quieter" the redhead says leading Madelyn to a quiet hallway and sitting on an empty gurney

Madelyn keeps her gaze fixed on the floor even though she was overly aware of the fact that April had her gaze fixed on her

"I'm fine now, you can go" Madelyn finally says

"I'm not going anywhere" April says

"April-"

"I'm staying" April says

Madelyn slowly nods "Okay" she whispers

After sitting with April for what felt like hours and after the redhead convinced Madelyn too cancel her surgeries for the day and take it easy, the Shepherd girl decided to check up on Richard, as she walks into the man's room she's met with Jo who has him hooked up to a machine

"Dr. Webber" Madelyn says making her presence known

"Dr Shepherd, just in time for the show" the man replies

Jo clears her throat in preparation "I'm gonna ask you a series of questions. "Are you a tennis player?"

Richard rolls his eyes "Oh, good Lord"

Jo takes that as a no "Do you frequently carry heavy loads," "groceries, etcetera, with your injured arm?"

"I've been in this bed a month" the man replies

"I'm just trying to be thorough. Um..."Have you recently engaged in any strenuous sеxual..." Jo trails off as Madelyn lets out a laugh "I am skipping that one... Uh, too, uh... um...Uh... I'm not getting a very good reading on, uh, sir, are you... oh-oh..." She turns to see that he's pulling the sensors off

"It is not my tennis game, and it's not my heart. Look deeper. Now get out, and take that thing with you" Richard scolds

"Do better Bambi, do better" Madelyn says before walking out

"Hey, and what is going on with Mr. Bosco? Why has a broken ankle been moved to pre-op for a cardiac procedure?" April asks

"What?" Madelyn questions

"You can't change the course of treatment like that without..." April attempts to accuse

"I didn't. The cardio consult declared it inoperable" Madelyn replies

"So then why is he in pre-op? Who... who did the consult?" April asks

"I don't know, and I don't care" Madelyn says

"I bet it was Yang, it's always Yang" April says

"Probably" Madelyn shrugs

"I need an ultrasound" Jo asks a nurse

Madelyn gasps "Are you pregnant? Does Alex know?"

Jo quickly shakes her head "No, I-I need an ultrasound machine"

"Oh, for Webber" Madelyn says

"Does Alex think I'm pregnant?" Jo asks

"Maybe, could be why he's avoiding you" Madelyn suggest

"Another round please" Madelyn says to a bartender

"Ugh, I hate men" Jo whines

"Hmm" Madelyn hums "Maybe it's time you try women" she suggests

"Madelyn. You're supposed to be helping me fix this thing with Alex" Jo says

"Well, i'm not good at relationships. So you're asking the wrong person" Madelyn says

Jo sighs "Help me" she begs

Madelyn thinks for a moment "More drinks?" she asks

"God yes" Jo replies instantly
