"i made a bloody mess"

~~~~~
Over the past week Madelyn had busied herself with work, she'd practically lived at the hospital. She was buried in an unforgiving amount of guilt, guilt that stemmed from not seeing her child, her baby.
She thought it would be safest for Alexis to be with April, away from Madelyn's home until she figured out what she was going to do about Tony.
But two weeks feels likes forever when it's your family.
But here she is again, in the ER, working her third shift on no sleep.
"Somebody please help, please!" a woman pleads
"Please! Please, someone help us!" a male voice follows
"My baby can't breathe!" the same woman yells helplessly
Madelyn watches as April hurries over "She's choking on something" the man says
"O2 and crike kit, please?" April orders
"Is she dying?" a young girl, the babies sister asks "Mommy, is she dying?"
"She's choking on something" the man repeats
"Okay" April says reassuring him that she heard as she attempts to save the baby
Madelyn makes her way over to the distressing scene "Move. Move!" she yells lightly pushing April out of the way and aggressively hitting the baby on the back causing both parents alarm
"Oh, my God!" the mom exclaims
"Hey, stop!" the dad then yells
But there panic stops when the baby starts crying
"Oh!" both patterns exclaim in relief as Madelyn hands the baby back to April
"You're okay. You're okay" the redhead says to the baby
"How long had she been choking?" Madelyn asks the parents
"I don't know..." the dad says  "a... a few minutes... five?"
"Page neuro" Madelyn says to April "The baby's brain may have been deprived of oxygen for too long" she adds before turning briefly to the parents "Next time, call an ambulance" she says before walking away
April watches her carefully, but only briefly as she turns her focus back to the baby
~~~~~

Not even five minutes later Madelyn was on her way back to the ER, something was drawing her there. Something she couldn't put her finger one.

She turns the corner and as she does she encounters the little girl recognises from earlier rummaging through some drawers "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hey" she says taking the item out of the girls hand
