Chapter 46: No More Secrets II

"Mum, are you really sure you want to hear this one?" Mackenzie asked while staring at Alexa
With her special vision, Mackenzie could see one of the thickest, darkest, purple smog, surrounding Alexa's heart. Whatever it was that was bothering Alexa, it was so big, it could probably shatter Sloane.
"Mu-"
"Kenzie, go to sleep" Nathan whispered in her ear. She was still in Nathan embrace even though Nathan was sitting. "I'll handle the rest. Sleep" Nathan murmured again and Mackenzie rested her head on his chest and shut her eyes
'Dad, won't let anything happen' she thought as she let Nathan's heartbeat, lull her to sleep
"Sloane, Mickey is-"
"You said it yourself" Sloane said "You agreed to no more secrets so, spit it out" she sighed while Alexa bit her bottom lip
"The vampires and the magic association were conducting experiments on devils" Alexa said "The ranks system for demons at the time, was a little messed up. With training, any normal vampire could become a lord or noble just like any person from the magic association could become a supreme or high" she clenched her fists "The experiment was to force a higher devil's bloodline on a branch demon"
"Madness....That's madness" Jerald said
"Of all the things to do....a devil's bloodline with a brach demon's bloodline is crazy" Brianna said while tightly holding on to Allen
"At the time, unreasonable kings were in charge of the vampires, werewolves and magic association. Vampire king Apollo was Queen Hailey's father, King Alpha Mike was King Reese's father and the Supreme Witch Alastair was Clark's grandmother" Alexa explained
"These three people were power hungry monsters. King Alpha Mike was at least reasonable. He never did experiments and allowed time to take its course and that's how the werewolves became stronger little by little. To control the hierarchy system for werewolves, he created laws and added to the existing laws. Even if there were several werewolves of the same level, none of them could defeat the King Alpha and his selected council members. They forever remained the ones with the strongest bloodline as werewolves" Fernanda said
"But, the vampire king and the supreme witch called him a fool and banned together to experiment on devils. The witches had the knowledge and equipments possible, while the vampires had the test subjects and the power needed to bring down a high ranking devil" Alexa said taking a deep breath
"I think I'm gonna be sick" Sloane said with her hand to her mouth while Nathan gently rubbed her back "Thank you"
"What does this all have to do with Sloane's current problem?" Nathan asked
"Funny you might ask. They had finally succeeded in capturing a devil. And not just any, but Demon Princess Noelle's daughter" Clark said "There are seven princes of hell. If you read about them in bibles you'll know all seven of them. You'll also know that one of them, was kicked out from heaven. His name was Lucifer and he had a sister, Noelle. Hell happily welcomed them and with their numerous deeds, the demon king adopted them. Lucifer was put on the front for wars while Noelle was a birth machine" he sighed "Noelle gave birth to many male children by sleeping with several high ranking devils. But, after sleeping with Asmodeous, the demon king's actual son, she birthed a daughter"
"That daughter became the very base of the experiment. She was alive and also pregnant" Mary said "Supreme witch Alastair didn't care. She carved out the unborn child and used it as the very base of the magic association's experiment and then handed Noelle's daughter to the vampire to use as their research item"
"Ah. Even monsters aren't that cruel to others" Cassandra said
"That person has no soul" Sloane said with a blank expression and a monotone voice
"That's enough Sloane. You don't need to listen" Nathan said "We should head on home"
"No" Sloane said firmly "I...am so useless right now. At least listening... I'll be able to correct some things without stepping into the battlefield. That's my resolve" she took a deep breath "Continue"
"Supreme witch Alastair had also left her two nieces to oversee the experiment and also to thank the vampire king for bringing Noelle's daughter to her" Alexa said "One of the nieces to Alastair, had caught the attention of the king's eye. He had wondered what would happen if he was to mix his bloodline with that of the witch and then, that of the devil" Sloane's eyes widened at this
"As you know, your mother became the first successful hybrid" Clark said as he picked up a stick and started messing with it
"The king believed that his generation was too old to receive the devil's bloodline, after Queen Hailey was born. So, he held an event" Mary said "He brought forth his own daughter to use as a vanguard. Then, he asked his council members to bring forth their own children. They would inject each of the children with the devil's bloodline. If the bloodline was compatible with the child after receiving five shots, they would live. If not, they explode like a bloody balloon"
"There was on scruny old man among the council members. He had no child but his apprentice was still young. Far older than Queen Hailey at the time. He didn't have an heir to his council seat but he made the apprentice a council member before dying" Alexa said "Queen Hailey later mastered the use of the devil's bloodline and became a full devil. She used the power to end the lives of both King Apollo and Supreme witch Alastair. And she set the devil free"
"There's more to this. Isn't there?" Nathan asked
"The reason I never used my bloodline ability in front of Dante...is because, I'm the daughter of the apprentice and the devil" Alexa said "The devil, my mother, stayed in Euphoria and married the apprentice of the old man"
"Then-Then Clark-"
"Allow me to explain, Natasha" Mary said "Clark is one of the products of what Alastair did with that child. Alastair had force her own daughter to eat half of that child's body. This made Clark have a stronger demon side. It wouldn't be wrong to say he was a devil himself. Just a lower ranking one. He has no hatred towards what happened to his grandmother"
"And Mary is an artificial warbeast created from the remainder of the child, by Alastair" Clark said "Her creation was completed nineteen years ago and she only opened her eyes, a year later. She's a mixture of the devil's bloodline, werewolf bloodline and a whole bunch of other stuff. With that, her bloodline magic became unknown because it was still being formed"
"All of this happened in the past" Fernanda said as she saw Sloane stand up and begin to walk away "It's why it was kept a secret, Sloane"
Sloane increased her pace and everyone stood up and began to chase after her
"Sloane, we didn't know it would affect you. Just listen" Alexa shouted as she used her vampire speed to catch up and grabbed her by the hand
"Alexa, I'm thinking" Sloane said and tugged her hand back "And right now, I don't want you to touch me" she looked behind her "Right now, none of you should touch me or get near me. Give me my space to think" she added before storming off
Fernanda caught up and stood beside Alexa who was crying
"What should I do, Fer?" Alexa asked "I've made her mad two times today" she sobbed as Fernanda gave her a hug "She probably won't talk to me for a month this time"
"We'll talk later" Fernanda said as she noticed the others had already walked passed them "Let's go back to the settlement for now. The Fallens have already arrived. You have diplomatic problems to tend to"
"Yeah. I know" Alexa said while cleaning her tears and nodding and running after the group with Fernanda

Ahead of everyone, Sloane was having a long question and answer session with herself
'Why can't I remember my childhood? Maybe my memories were sealed because of the devil's bloodline and the spirit seed's incompatibility with each other. If so, then what was that room that I saw when Alexa held my hand? Mrs Connor didn't want me in that room. Was it from my memories?' she shook her head and looked to her side
Nathan was walking next to her with sleeping Mackenzie in his arms.
"I thought I-"
"Ordered me?" Nathan completed her sentence before looking at her "Do you dare?"
Suddenly hearing his sugar laced voice, made her body to relax. But when she remembered the sexier voice he used whenever he was alone with her, her cheeks reddened and her body stiffened. But she knew that due to the people around them and Mackenzie in his arms, he wouldn't use that voice
"Your body's stiffing like concrete. Are you alright?" he asked seriously until he saw her face, and felt like laughing
"Nathan... what should I do?" Sloane asked with a serious voice and Nathan looked away and the atmosphere around him changed
"Whatever you choose, is what I'll choose" Nathan said "Just use that brain of yours. Judging from how well you're taking things, I'm sure you're thinking of the best option that'll aid everyone. Just...clear your mind, relax, and listen to yourself. A pathway will open up"
Sloane didn't say anything again and just walked with her head lowered until they spotted the settlement
