Chapter 84: Stabilize IV

Hyacinth was finally beginning to feel the strain of the ritual as sweat dripped down his forehead
"Hold on for a while longer. We still haven't reached the end of the first day" Kathy said and Hyacinth smiled
"I just never knew she'd drain me like this" Hyacinth said
"The good news is, she finally stopped shaking" Kathy said
"And the bad news?" Hyacinth asked but just as Kathy was about to open her mouth, Sloane's body started to release a lot of magical energy and cracks started to appear on the barrier
"Xavier" Kathy shouted
"I know" Xavier shouted back as another tail sprouted out and made the ones he had, two. The cracks on the barrier were starting to disappear as the barrier was starting to turn orange. Xavier, Kathy and Hyacinth let out a sigh of relief when noticing how calm Sloane and the orbs were.
"I think...we're in the clear" River said
"For now" Hyacinth said "We're only just beginning. We should be expecting something far worse tomorrow"

Sloane's Subconsciousness
Sloane had continued living life through Hailey's eyes. She couldn't move nor could she talk but, she could feel Hailey's emotions and hear her thoughts. Currently, Sloane was watching through her mother's eyes, how the alliance came about while walking side by side with Hailey's aunt, Ursula who was also Clark's mum.
"You dressed pretty beautifully today" Ursula said "Is it because you're interested in the King Alpha?"
"Not at all" Hailey shouted before clearing her throat and calmly saying "The werewolves and vampires have had a long lasting rivalry. Our clan is pretty much afraid of them. At least, if it feels like a war is going to start, I'll surprise him at this meeting"
"I heard Reese can hear from a mile away" Ursula said "Plus, the werewolves are blessed by both the Spirit King and the Demon King. Even if you take out Reese who is blessed by the Spirit King, there is still the one blessed by the Demon King. And that one, is far scarier"
"I already don't like where this is going" Xavier said from behind Hailey "Maybe we shouldn't have come"
"Running away with your tails between your legs...Fox?" Melissa asked with a smile
"Stone eyes, it's called worrying" Xavier said "How can you be so calm?"
"We entered King Alpha Reese's zone two minutes ago" Melissa said "In a zone created by such a powerful person who can make his magic seem as normal as air, he could have killed us as soon as we entered"
"It goes to show the type of person he is" Ursula said as the path seemed to widen up as they reached the top of the mountain
At that point, Sloane's heart hurt a lot while looking through Hailey's eyes. James Connor, the man who had raised her most of her life, was resting against a tree right behind her father who sat on a vine covered chair in a gazebo. The table had a couple of drinks on it but other than that, it was pretty empty.
'What a way to welcome someone' Hailey thought
"Welcome" James said "Sorry about the location. The council members were complaining because Reese wanted to have this meeting in the human town" he looked towards Reese who was sound asleep on the chair "He worked a little too hard and hasn't slept a lot so he didn't have the energy to start an argument with the council members. As such, thing happened"
"I appreciate you telling us that but I'd rather like to start this meeting and leave" Hailey said as she sat down opposite Reese while Xavier and Melissa stood behind her
"Hailey...that's a bit rude" Ursula said before sitting next to her while a blindfolded witch stood behind her "I'm in your care, Louisa
"What's rude is that he invited us here, but he's sound asleep" Hailey complained "He looks like a brute from afar"
"Well, I apologize if that might have been rude" Reese said as he sat up fully awake before pushing the white hair that covered his blue eyes away with his right hand
"You better..." Hailey's voice faded completely when she stared at Reese. The white messy hair looked like snow and contrasted well with his blue eyes...so much so, that it was breathtaking
'This man...was my father?' Sloane wondered 'In what way did I inherit any of his genes? However, this feeling I'm receiving from mum...I've felt it once before. I can't remember where but I know...this feeling didn't come from here but from the outside world. The feeling of butterflies in my stomach. Where did I feel this?'
"Honestly, I really apologize" Reese said while resting on his right arm. James handed him a file which he duplicated and handed both copies to Ursula and Hailey. "These are the details of the alliance. Anything you want to change or don't like, you can address. For now, I'll read the whole thing since I'm the one offering" he said
"I have no problems with that" Ursula said before nudging Hailey in the side with her elbow
"Y-yeah" Hailey said as she stared at the file in front of her. She had not fully recovered from her shock of meeting Reese as she took occasional glances at him
"First of all, I'm going to skip the pleasantries at the beginning of the alliance" Reese said "We'd like to first offer homage to the magic association. Due to how wide and how far our settlement spreads, we have the necessary space to accommodate your kind. The cause of this suggestion, is due to the dragon keepers who possess twice as much magic power as the whole magic association. That much magic power gathered in one location is a problem"
"And how so?" Ursula asked and Reese sighed
"You might not have noticed this, but devils have started to pop into this world like weeds and these types.....aren't the reasonable ones" James said "We can't move the dragon keepers to our side. Those guys can be the cause of wars so, it has been decided to move the other large magic force"
"Also, a message from Marcus is to stop stealing from him" Reese said and Ursula let out a nervous laugh "You see, in the South and Northern settlements of the werewolf tribe, there are magic herbs and a couple of rare magical beasts that move about. The magic association has been stealing these and so have the healers among the vampires. Just last week, Marcus caught a vampire stealing from our territory...his betrothed just so happens to be a healer and she really likes those magical plants and the beasts that roam about"
"Unbelievable" Hailey mumbled as she glanced at Reese again before returning back to the file in front of her
"Lastly, I heard the vampires feel quite uncomfortable about our clan's fast evolution" Reese said before glancing at Hailey
Just as Hailey was about to take her quick glance at Reese, their eyes met and she could have sworn she saw him smirk
"You've been taking glances at me for quite some time now" Reese pointed out "Is something the matter? Or is there something on my face?" he asked
"How do you know I was looking at you?" Hailey asked with a fake frown
"You're in my zone, Hailey" Reese said and her heart fluttered when he called her name "I can see everything you do"
'This feeling...where have I felt it before?' Sloane thought as she wanted to reach for her chest but then, she remembered she couldn't move 'I can't remember my own memories....wait a second. How did I even get here?'
"Forget this" Hailey said
"Well, what am offering should be enough but if I'm missing anything or if you ladies would like to add anything, I think we can compromise" Reese said
"I want to test the spirit seed inside you" Louisa said
"You can try" James said
"Spirit seed?" Hailey repeated
"It was the blessing from the Spirit King we were talking about earlier" Ursula said
"In the werewolf clan, there is the two seeds. The spirit seed given to the northern tribe's Michelle family who saved the Spirit King long ago, and the demon seed given to the southern tribe's Kendell family for bringing upon the most deaths" Louisa said "Both seeds have immeasurable magic power and continually compete against each other while getting stronger and stronger each time it's passed down. According to Alastair, the seeds haven't found bearers who can handle it's full power"
"It seems like Alastair wrote her findings after meeting me and Marcus" Reese said with a smile "However, she forgot to add this; the spirit seed can't be too far from the demon seed due to the destruction demon seed bearers can cause. Plus, both seeds are on the same level as such, neither host is inferior to the other"
"Isn't that a threat?" Ursula asked "There could be an uprising if Marcus decides he wants to take over"
"That won't happen. We gave the South charge over the spirit world gate while we take care of the gates of hell. This will prevent any devils from taking over Marcus" James said "Marcus isn't even interested in taking up the position as King Alpha. Plus, we're not like the magic association or vampires who usually kill off what they deem as a threat"
"Having Marcus around helps me contain the spirit seed" Reese said "Without him, every demon within my zone would be long dead. Plus, if I get angry, things don't end up well as my seed will try to take over....it's the same for Marcus...so, having someone who can standby and handle my outbursts when they happen, is helpful. Not a threat"
"I've gotten a lot of information" Louisa said
"With that, our side is satisfied" Ursula said as she signed the alliance
"The only way I'm signing this alliance, is if you give us the secrets to a quick evolution" Hailey said "From what you said before, you're protecting the humans but our kind still can't go a week without human blood. We need a stable food supply which was only gotten from the humans in that town"
"We have help from the mayor" Reese said "He has a large vault that has been used as a blood bank for our kind. Criminals who have committed murder and crimes beyond human understanding, are stuffed in there and my brother goes to pick those ones up. As for the rest...it's history" he stared into her eyes "As for the evolution, we can do it anytime you want. Is that good enough for you, Hailey?"
Hailey signed the alliance and handed it over before standing up to leave however, she didn't fail to notice the smile that was plastered on Reese's face as she headed off
"You might want to watch where you're going instead of staring at my face" Reese teased and she left with a 'hump' before using a teleportation spell and leaving
'It's that feeling again' Sloane thought 'Where have I felt it before?' the whole place went black again and for some reason, when there was light again, she could tell things had changed
For one, the person who was holding her was an older version of Kathy and the room around her wasn't like the castle Hailey grew up in. Moreover, Kathy had a very fearful look on her face and still, Sloane didn't feel like she had control of this body
'Am I still in my mum's body?' Sloane wondered
"H-how's my son?" she heard Hailey's weak voice
"Hailey-"
"You mean...after all that....I lost the child?" Hailey asked
"No. Hailey, you had the child. Very healthy even" Kate said while staring at Sloane
'It couldn't be' Sloane thought 'Is this...my birth?'
"It's just....Hailey, you had a girl" Kate said "A very very beautiful...baby girl" she said Hailey was silent for a while
"Let me see her" Hailey said
"You-"
"Kathy...please" Hailey said and the world spun from Sloane's point of view as she found herself laying next to Hailey's head. Sloane was reliving her life now but it was the same as with Hailey's body; she was simply an observer.
Hailey stared at Sloane for a while before breaking down in tears and caressing Sloane's small head
"Hailey...does it hurt anywhere?" Kathy asked worriedly
"No. I just thought I was a bit too selfish" Hailey said "Here I was, hoping that the baby was a boy and worrying that I wasn't going to be a good mother to him. However, when I looked into these innocent eyes of hers, I realized that...no matter what, as far as she is still my child, I'll love her with all my heart"
'Mum' Sloane thought as she felt like crying

Sloane lay at the center of the circle as tears streamed down the sides of her eyes. Seeing this, Kathy's heart clenched but she ignored it and kept her orb steady and without fluctuations
"We seem to have gotten through the first day. Only two more left" Hyacinth said before addressing the spirits "Keep up the good work. You guys are doing great"
