Chapter 99: Misunderstanding II

Just as Priya and Timothy were exiting the room, Clark and Mary were also stepping out from the room opposite
"Now this is a surprise. Priya is here too" Clark said in encrypted speech
"Did you get woken up for the same reason as me?" Timothy asked and Clark spread out his arms as though asking 'Can't you see?' before dropping his arms by his sides
"Wow, you're all here" Fernanda said as she came down the stairs "I've checked on King Lucard's condition. We can get going now"
"Have you ever heard of a male demon delivering a baby?" Clark asked
"In the northern tribe, medical soldiers flourished irrespective of gender" Timothy said plainly "There's nothing wrong with us delivering babies"
"Yeah...then this should be a home run for you" Clark said as he, Timothy and the girls, headed down the other flight of stairs

Downstairs
Sloane stood in the hallway holding a conversation with Nathan and Alexa. She wore a short black lace nightgown with a long satin robe of the same color. The robe was slightly big and draped over one of her shoulders while being held by a belt.
"Here is the list of all the dead you asked for yesterday. The volunteers from yesterday didn't really mind me taking up command" Alexa said as she handed Sloane a large thick book "There are over eight thousand names written inside with their respective causes of death, which I was able to verify with Allen's help" she looked at Sloane who was flipping through the book "Aren't you supposed to be resting?"
"I'm not using magic today. Just carrying out daily duties as a fallen queen" Sloane said with a smile and Alexa sighed
"It's good to see you up and moving but you should take it easy" Nathan said
"Isn't that why I have you?" Sloane asked as she shut the book "You promised to help me no matter how crazy the idea was. Or are you going back on your word, Mr Kendell?" she asked with a sly smile
'She's doing this intentionally' Nathan thought before pushing the matter aside. He had other important things to tend to. "This is the newly formed register...[He hands over the book he's holding to her]...Hopefully, there won't be any other uncalled for incident and the bio data of everyone in the settlement will be collected quite peacefully" Nathan said while she flipped through it
"These two books have Louisa's magic power" Sloane mumbled
"The books here in the South are quite special. Louisa enchanted books like these, to have unending number of pages and also wrote up many spellbooks which are automated via here magic power" Nathan said
"Then, that book you used some time ago was made by her" Sloane said sadly "She's still helping us out from her grave"
"Either ways, this is among the keys you need. As a leader, you more than anyone should be moving forward" Nathan said and Sloane handed the register back to him "Once everyone in the settlement is fully awake-"
"You can leave that to me and your sisters" Alexa said as she took the register from Nathan "That role doesn't suit you and you have to help Sloane with something else. Right?"
Although Nathan didn't say anything, Alexa took it as a sign that she was right
"I'll head out once the sun comes up" Alexa said but then, from the corner of her eyes, she noticed the dark purple uniform that Priya and the others at the hospital, had decided would be the official uniform for the identification of medical soldiers. This had been one of the things that had been decided on while Sloane was sleeping, yesterday.
Sloane turned towards the stairs and saw Priya and the others who were assigned to the hospital
"Good morning" Sloane said
"Don't tell me we woke up everyone with sensitive hearing" Priya said worriedly
"Please try to make use of the sound barriers next time" Alexa said
"Teleport from here, to the hospital" Sloane said
"Yes, ma'am" Priya said and Clark snapped his fingers and their group left
"Alexa, thanks for your help" Sloane said "Also, have Allen help you out later" she said and Alexa smiled before her body turned into bats and she was gone
"Shall we head to the meeting room?" Nathan asked and she shook her head
"That will have to be done later" Sloane said "Come inside. We need to explore the contents of that chest without anyone knowing. Information can't be leaked out yet" she opened her bedroom door and Nathan followed her in before shutting the door.

Inside the hospital
Clark and the others arrived with green lights swirling around them. As soon as their feet touched the ground and the lights disappeared, they turned on the lights and got to work.
First, they checked to see how many of the pregnant women were awake and how many had already gone into labour. After determining the number, Priya put on a pair of rubber gloves, her apron, and her mask before ushering them into the labour room.
Then, she and the others began to clone themselves. Some of the clones checked on the other patients and made them take their medication while the other clones tended to breakfast and attended to other deliveries.
By the time all of this was done, the sun was already up, the clones had been cancelled out, and it was ten in the morning. Mary was tending to the birth certificates with the help of Fernanda, Clark had just handed out the last plate of breakfast and was returning back to where the girls were sitting while Priya and Timothy had just come out from Zuri's room.
"How is she?" Fernanda asked
"She's yet to wake up but thanks to Sloane's interference, she should be waking up soon. I can even take the bandages off today" Priya said but as she took another step, she stumbled and lost balance
"Careful" Timothy said as he tightly gripped her by her waist to keep her from falling flat on her face before pulling her into him. "It's not a must to do what others do" he said
Priya blushed at Timothy's hand on her waist and turned her head to look at him. Timothy looked down at her at the same time and embarrassment from early in the morning resurfaced in Priya's mind. She pushed Timothy away and ran out of the hospital
"Did you grab her too hard?" Clark asked
"I don't think so" Timothy said as he scratched the back of his head "I know I grabbed her lightly"
"Knowing Priya, it's definitely a misunderstanding" Fernanda said "Maybe something that happened earlier-"
"Or she could have developed feelings for you" Mary said and the other three turned to look at her
"Was that meant to be a joke?" Clark asked
"Take it as you please" Mary said
"Then it was a joke" Fernanda said before waving her hand
"So, did something happen earlier?" Clark asked
"No, nothing happened...." Timothy thought but then, a flashback of when Priya had come to wake him up that morning, happened. And he stopped scratching his head and brought his hand down to his side "....Oh shit. I completely forgot about that. I did tell her we should talk about this before misunderstandings arise"
"Something she did, or something you did?" Clark asked
"Her fault. Definitely hers this time" Timothy said immediately "I'll go talk to her" he said with a sigh, before leaving to find Priya
"I wonder what she did, for her to want to avoid Tim that badly" Fernanda said
"Either he woke up and she was about to kiss him. Or she saw him enjoying the pleasures of dreamworld like all normal guys do and when he woke up, he caught her staring at what she shouldn't have" Clark said before pushing aside the trolley and sitting with Mary and Fernanda

Priya had run to the back of the hospital and squat down with her back against the hospital building
"I'm crazy. I've gone nuts" Priya said as she tried to get the thoughts out of her head while covering her face 'I definitely felt it this time. It wasn't just my eyes playing tricks on me this morning'. "Now I see why people say that demons are the embodiments of man's temptations" she mumbled
"What are you doing?" Timothy asked. He was squatting in front of her with worry written on his face
"Leave me alone, Tim's voice. I'm trying to get you and your handsome face out of my head" Priya said and his eyes widened in surprise
"What did you say?" Timothy asked and Priya lifted up her head. Her whole existence went mute as she stared into Tim's dumbfounded eyes
"T-Tim?" Priya let out
"Could you....repeat what you just said?"
"I didn't say anything" Priya said after calming her heart "If you'll excuse me" she wanted to stand up but Timothy pulled her back and pinned her against the ground
"Really? Cause you've been saying a lot of things and although I can barely catch every word, I know those things are about me" Timothy said seriously "Stop mumbling nonsense and straight up say it to my face. And if you're worried about others hearing, no worries, I set a sound barrier and a normal barrier too"
"Too close....you're too close" Priya said as she looked away from him while her hand held his arms. Timothy took a quick glance at her before letting out a grunt and getting off her which made her let out a sigh. The whole time they had been in that position, she had been holding her breath.
"You see" Timothy started as he stood up "This is the main reason why I said we should talk about this, earlier. What type of person do you take me for, Priya? You said we should pretend like nothing happened and here you are doing the complete opposite and causing damage to your mental health"
"You must be sick of me now" Priya said and Timothy carried her in his arms
"Care to repeat that?" Timothy asked "I couldn't hear you over your constant mumbling"
"P-Put me down"
"Not a chance. I know you'll try to run and that'll just give me a headache so please Priya....stop"
"Huh?" Priya let out and he dropped her to her feet
"You seem to be misunderstanding something, Priya" Timothy said "I honestly don't care about what happened this morning"
"How can you-"
"You're not a pervert...that much I know. Plus, you don't have those types of feelings for me"
"What type of feelings?"
"Lust, and of course, love. The same can be said about me so, I'm not looking down or judging you, Priya" Timothy said before patting her head "So please, don't ever think that I won't believe or trust you, like the Rodik family. And don't ever think for once that I'll abandon you because, Priya, you're my responsibility"
"Thanks" Priya said while lowering her head
