"We couldn't just leave him behind." Rick explained to us the story about how there was a shootout and that kid fell on a fence, puncturing his leg, making them have to take it off. "He would have bled out.. If he lived that long."

"It's gotten bad in town." Glenn said quietly. He seemed really off ever since they got home, and I think it was that shooting. Messed with his head.

"What do we do with him?" Andrea asked

"Well, our options are slim." I said to her, right before Hershel walked in.

"I repaired his calf muscle as best I can, " he told us all, "but he'll probably have nerve damage. Won't be on his feet for at least a week."

"That should be planty of time to get information about his group out of him, right? I mean we just saved his life he's ought to be a little sensible."

"Sure but, we also killed 3 of his people, y/n. If he did tell us anything more than likely it would be a trap. " Rick said looking at me while he crossed his arms. I knew he was right but, still. "Listen, I say when he's back on his feet give him a canteen, take him out to the main road, Send him on his way."

"Isn't that the same as leaving him for the walkers?" Andrea asked

"We might as we be leaving him as walker bait." I agreed as Daryl walked in, nodding at me and I did the same to him. He gave a quick nod to Carol too. I wasn't sure if they had made up after whatever heated discussion they had had but, I wasn't too focused on that right now.

"He'll have a fighting chance." Rick replied.

"Just gonna let him go?" Shane asked.

"Well what do you suggest? Keep him around so he can run away on his own?" I asked as I leaned against the door frame.

"He knows where we are." He countered.

"He was blindfolded the whole way here." Rick countered him, "he's not a threat."

"Not a threat- how many of them were there?" Shane asked, "you killed three of their men, you took one of 'em hostage, but they just ain't gonna come looking?'

"They left him for dead, no one is looking." Rick replied. I bit back my reply about how Shane wanted to give up the search for Sophia, why would they search for one of their boys.

"We should still post a guard." T-dog said.

"He's out cold right now. Will be for hours." Hershel told us all.

"You know what? I'm gonna go get him some flowers and candy." Shane said as he looked around at us.

"Oh, shut up. What do you suggest we do, kill him? If that's what we do then what was the point in saving him?" I say to him. "For shits'n giggles? Waste supplies? No, we keep him alive, we see if we can talk to him, find out more about his group."

"Look at this folks." Shane said as he scoffed, walking away from the table. "We back in fantasy land."

"You know, we haven't even dealt with what you did at my barn yet." Hershel called out to him. "Let me make this perfectly clear, once and for all- this is my farm. Now I wanted you gone. Rick talked me out of it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." He explained to Shane. "So do us both a favor- keep your mouth shut."

I smiled at him, I appreciated Hershel telling Shane to shut the fuck up. Felt good to have someone put him in his place once in a while. Shane just sighed, rubbing his head as he walked out of the house, not saying another word.
