I had left the room for a little bit to grab some food for Daryl. Rick looked at me when I said what I was doing, and said we'd talk later, whatever that means.

When I came back in, Daryl pulled the covers up quickly. "Daryl it's just me, it's ok." I said lightly, still not going to ask him about the scars until he was ready to talk. "Well I brought you some dinner, figured youd be starving." I said, sitting at the edge of his bed.

He sat up a little to look at the food, then me. "Where's yers?"

"I didn't like the looks Hershel was sending my way, I grabbed your stuff and left." I explained, then Carol walked in with another tray.

"I got you, y/n, we've all been getting those looks tonight." Carol said as she sat the tray she made for me by his. She looked at Daryl now, "and you, how you feelin'?"

"Bout as good as I look." Daryl said Dismissivly, still holding the blanket up to cover himself.

She looked at me, and I nodded at her, figuring what she wanted to do. She moved closer to him and planted a gentle motherly kiss on his head.

He looked at her with surprise before looking back at me, and rolling over. "Watch out I got stitches." He muttered.

I smiled a bit, putting my hand on his arm. "Yeah between the both of us your getting the most." I said, thinking about my own stitching that I had on my head, not near as many as Daryl needed.

Carol looked between us, then spoke up, "you need to know something." We watched her and waited for her to continue. "You did more for my little girl today than her own daddy ever did in his whole life."

Daryl watched her, "I didn't do anything Rick or Shane wouldn't have done." He said carefully.

"I know." Carol replied. "Your every bit as good as them. Every bit." She nodded at me, then left the room, shutting the door behind her.

We grabbed the food and atee it, before he settled into the bed to go to sleep. "You should go back to the tent, don't want ya sleeping in another chair." He said watching me.

"And leave you? Nuh-uh, no. I'll stay right here."

"Then get in the bed."

"And let Rick see me laying with you? No on that too. Ill be just fine in the chair, I promise you." I said gently. "Now you need your rest, go to sleep." I said as I settled myself into the chair.

The next morning was great. We got Daryl back to his tent to rest and I stayed with him. I had just left Daryl for a while so I could check on Carl, only to find that he was no longer bed ridden, and could now roam around freely. While I was outside I saw the horses me and Daryl borrowed run back. Hershel and Rick got on our asses about the horse thing last night, apparently we took the most nervous one and her little sidekick who freaked whenever she freaked.

I walked up to Carl and Lori, seeing Carl wearing Ricks sheriff hat. "hey little man, sweet hat you got there. Never thought Rick would take that thing off, it's like his trophy." I smiled, knocking the brim of the hat up.

He smiled and laughed a bit, "yeah aunt y/n, he gave me it, last night." He told me.

"Nice." I nodded.

"So, you and Daryl official now?"

I rolled my eyes, but com e to think of it I'm not sure what we are. "I don't know little man, but you'll be the first I tell. Promise."

While I was out I saw Glenn using a pair of binoculars to look at something, but Maggie walked past him and he stopped, then he took a basket of peaches and started handing them out. I smiled and took one for me and one for Daryl, "so what's going on?"
