The next day I stopped Deanna, seeing her walking along the street, "hey, uh, ma'am!" I called out to her, making her turn around.

"Y/n! What a surprise, you enjoying helping the teachers teach?" She asked, turning to face me.

"I actually.. Wanted to talk to you about that. You already have a few teachers, 2 for the littles and one for the bigger kids, I was wondering why you needed me there, too?"

She sighs, and watches me, "what do you have in mind?"

"Well, as much as I'd love for life to turn back to how it was, after what I've seen, what I've done, I can't just go back to teaching kids. I was wondering if I could help out by going out on runs, gathering materials and weapons and food- I'll even take personal requests for people and try to help out as much as I possibly can."

She watched me, sighing, "your pregnant, are you sure that's really a good idea?"

"I didn't let my pregnancy make me a liability when I was out there, I don't want it to make me a liability while I am here."

She chewed on her cheek as she watched me, before sighing, "I'll find you a job. I don't know what it is yet but, your right. Teaching doesn't fit you anymore. I'll get back to you." She nodded, walking away.

"So I'm off teacher duty?"

"Your off teacher duty."

I smiled in triumph, before turning back home. As I made my way, I saw Daryl on the porch.

"Hey daryl." I smiled at him, and Carol came out of the house, "hey Carol. "

She smiled, "hey, it's time to punch the clock and make the casseroles." She said as she looked between me and Daryl.

"What?" He asked as he fixed up his crossbow.

"Make dinner for the older people- moms who need a break, people who can't cook. Get to meet a lot of the neighbors that way." She told us.

Daryl scoffed in amusement, before nodding, "all right."

"Have you taken a shower yet?" She asked him.

"Mm-hmm." He replied.

"Uh no, he hasn't." I shook my head and crossed my arms.

Carol laughed lightly as Daryl shot me a glare. "Take a shower, I'm gonna wash that vest. We need to keep up appearances- even you." She said as she went down the steps.

"Hey, I ain't starting now." Daryl called down to her.

"I'm gonna hose you down in your sleep!" She called back up as she walked away.

Daryl scoffed, "you look ridiculous." He called out to her.

I snorted back a laugh, "come on, want it or not your gonna at least wash the dirt from your hair." I said, tugging his arm.

"Woman- you ain't making me do nothing-" he said as he held back a laugh.

"Man- you smell like that barn we slept in, your gonna shower."

He chuckled a bit, finally standing. "Fine, only cause I don't want you throwing up on me in disgust while we sleep." He sighs.

"Thank- god." I sigh, practically dragging him inside, up the stairs, and into the bathroom with me.

Soon I went out on the porch, and I guess I missed all the excitement when I was in the shower with Daryl, because once we were out there we saw a man, I'm pretty sure Deanna's son, pushing Glenn around.
