Carl hit the ground.
I fell next to him, pulling his head up as I screamed up at Rick to do something. Help him. Help.

It took him just a second before he kicked into dad mode. Rick fell to his knees next to me, and scooped Carl up into his arms. Me and Michonne cleared a path through the walkers as we ran, my brother following us close from behind.

Desperately slashing through the mass, searching for a way to get Carl to safety. To keep Carl safe. Carl has to be ok. Hes a strong boy. This isn't the worst he's been through. He'd be ok. He has to be.

Blood was everywhere. In my hair. On my hands. Splattered across my face. Soaking through the bed sheets and onto my clothes. Everywhere as we ran.

Blood was everywhere as we cut through the danger. As we tried to get Carl out of danger. We have to keep Carl out if danger.

The infirmary. It had to be safe. We could get Carl medical attention. Carl would be safe. He has to be safe. We ran. Fast as we could. And when we got there, they swung the door open. Denise pointed Rick in the direction to go, and he wasted no time running.

"Is that a gunshot?" She asked as Rick layed his son down on a gurney.

"Yeah," I said quickly, "but he isn't bit, just the gunshot."

"Handgun, close range." Michonne clarified as she stood close by.

"Please save him..." Rick pleaded desperately. "... Please."

I didn't even pay attention to the operation. I couldn't bear it, to look and see that poor boy in so much pain. I slowly sunk to the floor and put a hand on my stomach, the adrenaline of fear wearing off and leaving me exhausted, bsore, nauseous, aching, the poor baby probably was too happy with all that stress either. I stared off into the distance at the floor, watching as everyone's feet moved around quickly, in and out of my vision as their words all blended into one another.

Denise asking for a light to be shone. Having Michonne holding a towel on him while Denise started the stitching. Michonne pulling Rick's bedsheet from him as he stared at my nephew in horror, fearful if what could happen if we didnt move fast enough. Rick standing anxiously by the room and pacing, before pulling out his hatchet and stepping outside.

I didn't even try to stop him. I wanted to. I knew I should've. Called out to him. Pulled him back. But I knew Rick wouldn't get himself killed. But he needed to blow off steam. If I was in any better condition I would have ran after him. Helped him cut through the masses. Instead I gave everyone else in the room a tired look. A desperate one. "Help him" I said quietly. "He isn't thinking rationally right now."

Denise finished up Carl's stitching and gave everyone else the go ahead, and instantly after that, Aaron, Heath, and Spencer ran out, Michonne joining them seconds later.

Once they were gone Denise looked down at me. "You need rest." she said as she crouched by me. "Maybe a little water."

"I'm trying" I sighed softly.

"Stress isn't good for your baby." she added. As if I didnt know how much stress my baby was under right now.

"I'm aware" I mumbled and looked up at her. "... I want to go out there and help them." I sighed.

"You could get hurt" she shook her head.

"I could get hurt if I eat the wrong food, Denise. At least this way I'll be getting hurt for a reason. A good reason."

She just shook her head again and sighed heavily. "Y/n, I know how you're feeling right now at this very moment, but I want to be able to keep you safe. You and Carl. And if Carl wakes up and Rick isn't here he needs some family. You're staying."

I sighed heavily and slowly stood, walking over to Carl. His eye now stitched up, covered with some gauze and a bandage. "Your right..." I sighed a little as I caressed that poor boys face. He didnt deserve this. To go through so much pain. He was such a good little boy. Such a beautiful young man who is growing up to be smart and strong. My heart aches at seeing him hurt.

If I could id curse whatever being caused this much pain to my nephew, my brother, the rest of the people of Alexandria.

Then a sound caught my attention.

Rapid gun fire. Not as in several people shooting. As in one or two RPG guns. I quickly walked over to the window and pulled it back to try and get a read on what was happening.

And faintly, so faintly, I could make out 2 silhouettes standing over the wall by the gate, shooting down a lot of walkers.

Some of our people had come back. And I was praying at least one of them was Daryl. I quickly walked back to Denise. "We're saved" I breathed.

And for the first time in a really long time, it didn't feel like I was lying to myself.

I paced the room as I waited for something new to happen, when a loud splash and a flash of light was seen from one of the windows. I wished over, opening it to see the water on fire. The whole water source. And it lead all the walkers to it. Letting them burn. And then I saw him. Standing on a truck. Rocket launcher in his hand. And after a long night... There were bi more left.

Once the sun rose I stumbled out of the infirmary, opening the door wide to look at the mass of dead bodies on the street. The group of our people coming near.

Daryl.

He saw me as soon as I saw him, and instantly he jogged over, moving quickly before wrapping his arms firmly around me.

"Thank God your ok." I breathed as I held him close, pulling back to look him over. "Are you hurt?"

"Ill be fine." He promised softly, kissing the top of my head.

But I wasn't going to just let that slide. I ushered him inside so Denise could fix up his wounds, everyone else waiting outside while Glenn took care of Maggie, Michonne held Judith, and Rick sat in a room with Carl as we waited for him to wake up again. Praying, hed wake up again.

But right now? Everything was ok again. Carl was still breathing. Hurt. But breathing. Daryl was back. Here. Within my reach. Everything is ok again.

Everything... Is ok.

Short chapter I know, but there was only like 20 minutes of this episode left and the next episode is post Carl's getting better, so I figured this one could be a little bit if a palate cleanser after a super long and harsh chapter.

Anyway, yes this was an early update, I had some extra free time on my hands, however the next chapter won't be published until the 3rd or 4th.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter, see yalls again in like 2 weeks 😍😘📈
