A fairytale of a beautiful maiden, the beloved Frost Flower Princess was supposed to be staying in the comfort of her castle masquerading as a cage to protect her from the dangers outside, imprisoned by her own brothers.
That is, until a mysterious...
Y/n slowly opened her eyes, her chest rising and falling as her hands instinctively clutched close to her body, the faintest tremor running through her delicate frame from the fever. Riddle stood over her, his piercing gaze softening as he observed her weakened state. 'Because of her... kindness,' he thought darkly, his lips curling into a frown. 'She's this way because of her heart—her compassion... It must be preserved. Protected. At all costs.' His hands twitched at his sides, the overwhelming desire to control, to shield, growing within him like a deep, burning need.
Across the room, Isfrid watched closely, his sharp, icy gaze catching the faint glow emanating from Y/n's bandaged hands. A chill ran down his spine as his eyes narrowed. The sight stirred something deep inside him, a raw, almost violent sense of failure. 'I failed her... I couldn't protect her. Never again.' His heart pulsed with an unsettling mix of guilt and possessiveness. His gaze shifted back to his sister, a promise to himself forming—no one would ever get the chance to harm her again. Not while he still drew breath.
* Dwarf's Mine - Interior
After the whole ordeal, Grim quickly followed Vanitas back into the mine, not taking notice of the human's dark expression. Upon arriving back at the specific spot of the cave where the monster was hiding, they managing to find the magic gem still in the same place in which Vanitas immediately grabbed a nearby pickaxe, prying the gem out of the stone.
"The monster really was guarding the gem and such high purity!" Vanitas beamed, looking at the gem in his hand before his eyes soften. "It shines just like yours...N/n." he mumbled.
"Hand that over!" Grim suddenly shouted, leaping over to the magic gem in Vanitas's hand, attempting to steal it away from him but he swiftly moved his hand out of the way from the weasel's reach.
"If I remember correctly, we gotta bring the gem back to the school." Vanitas says with an amused grin. "Can't let Ace and Deuce get expelled on the first day~"
"I deserve it after all that work!" Grim exclaimed, jumping up and down to reach the magic gem but Vanitas just lifted it higher with a teasing grin which made the weasel more frustrated. All the jumping quickly exhausted the weasel from the futile attempts to grab the gem from Vanitas's hand. "*pant* *pant*"
