school had been exceedingly grim the last few weeks but at least the Quidditch season had begun. there was a game on the horizon and we have been having evening practices nearly every night. the other houses also had frequent practices but we managed to sneak in onto the field quite often. if it weren't for our old toad of a DADA teacher we wouldn't have to sneak on the field.
it was the morning of a game that we would be playing against Slytherin. the twins and i were sitting together at breakfast with our game sweaters and tan pants. everyone else was dressed in leisure wear as it was a Saturday but we had to be in our game uniform since we would be heading down to the pitch as soon as we were done eating.
when we were finished with our meal the twins and i practically skipped out of the great hall being followed by Angelina and Alicia. Harry and Ron had not shown up for breakfast quite yet but they still had time. the five of us just wanted to go down early so that we could avoid Umbridge coming over to inspect us as we conversed.
"i can't be the only one who things that old toad needs to get herself a life instead of stuffing her nose into ours. it's just a game." Fred said and there was a collective hum of agreement as we jogged down the halls to warm our bodies up.
"no matter how many times we say it, it will never be less true." i said.
"I'm more worried about what she might do if we beat Slytherin." Alicia said.
"why?" Angelina questioned.
"you've seen the Slytherins. they're like her puppies. she adores them and they follow her lead. it doesn't help that she was a Slytherin here like fifty million years ago." Alicia replied.
"so what your saying is, if we beat them then were getting flogged by an old frumpy teacher that cant even reach our shoulders?" George asked in a monotone voice that only made his words funnier.
"I'd pay good money to see her try." Fred said.
"i don't think were going to have to pay any money at all to see that if I'm being honest." i said with a chuckle.
"and why is that?" George asked curiously.
"it's Slytherin, do i even need to give a reason why we will absolutely destroy them?"
"fair enough." George conceded.
when we arrived at the locker rooms we each went to our spots and began strapping on our gear. the game was in an hour but it took thirty minutes alone to get all of our gear on because most of the time we need assistance with half of it. the keeper is usually the only one who always wears their gear. the rest of us only wear it for games. Ron and Harry showed up in the locker room a few minutes after we did so we were all here and ready to get geared up.
"Chloe, can you help me with the arm guards?" Fred asked and instead of answering i walked up to him and began strapping on his arm guards.
"are you worried about the game?"he asked.
"why are you asking?" i replied.
"because you look like your worried."
"maybe i am."
"why?" he asked.
"you are the only one i will willingly admit this to but, Umbridge worries me. she has a lot of authority and i am worried that, if i am concerned about her being at the game, then i will fumble."
"how can i help you?" he asked and i couldn't help but smile.
"a hug would be nice."
he wrapped his arms around me in an instant and leaned close to my ear, "it's cute when you ask me for hugs." he whispered.
