Chapter Sixty-nine - Apparition

As i was hiding under the bleachers i heard footsteps coming and i looked around trying to figure out who was coming. eventually i could see that it was a Slytherin because i caught a glimpse of the persons tie.

"Chloe, it's Adrian." the voice said and i shot a spell at him causing him to fall.

"Just making sure." i said as i actually saw that it was Adrian. i crawled out from behind the bleachers and just stood in front of him with my wand extended.

"you don't trust me." he stated and i nodded.

"i never have. if you thought i did, your an idiot." i said.

"look, i told the others that i was going to come find you. no one else is coming after you because they think I'm playing you. your safest bet is to get out of the school and apparate away."

"I'm not doing that unless i have a real reason to." i said.

Adrian started to say something but suddenly something materialized in front of me and i caught it as the sparks faded. it was an envelope. i flipped it over and broke the seal. the seal had a 'D' on it which meant it was from Dumbledore. i pulled a small card out of the envelope and it said that i needed to come to HQ immediately.

"bye." i said quickly and then dashed away.

when i snuck off school property, i dashed into Hogsmeade and found a comfortable alley and tucked away the envelope. i need to go to Grimauld Place so i pictured the dark street and a loud crack came as i twisted around. when the twisting stopped i regained my balance and opened my eyes. i had apparated before but never at this distance. I checked myself to make sure I didn't splinch myself but I was in no pain so it was clear that I had made a perfect Apparition.

when I steadied myself i looked around quickly to see if everything was clear. as I looked around, the final thing my eyes landed on was a tall lanky figure standing in front of the door marked number twelve. I ran up and embraced Remus and he returned the hug but before we could say anything, the door swung open and my father stood there with open arms and a bright smile on his face.

I let go of Remus and jumped towards my father and he hugged me tightly before releasing me to look at me. his hands were on the sides of my head as he looked at me to make sure I was alright. he must have heard some of what was going on at the school.

"are you alright?" he finally asked.

"I've been better. I think we all have." I replied.

"why haven't you been sending letters?" Remus asked.

"all lines of my communication are being tracked and Bob went missing months ago. either the ministry kidnapped him or he ran away for his own good. poor thing's been through the mill compared to every other owl."

"well, Dumbledore caught word that Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Neville and Luna Lovegood have found their way to the ministry to save Sirius who is actually here." Remus said.

"why does he want me here, then?" I questioned.

"he wants you to come with us to the ministry to get them out of there before You Know Who and his Death Eaters find them." my father said.

"we need to get to the department of mysteries quickly then." I said.

"how do you know that's where they are?" Remus questioned.

"i helped plan the escape." I said as if it were obvious.

"that doesn't surprise me." he mumbled.

there was a moment of silence between the three of us as we stood together in the foyer of the narrow home. we could have gone further into Grimauld Place but to do that would be to subject ourselves to an even later departure for the rescue mission. it was technically a double rescue mission since the people we were trying to rescue were also trying to rescue someone.
