few days passed in the time between our arrival and the day Mrs. Weasley had selected to purchase our books for the year. she had wanted to unwind from the trip we had just taken and we were in no rush to make her get up off her feet and go out to purchase our school supplies.
my possession of many assortments of suspicious products was found out by Ginny one evening and she let it slip to Mr. Weasley that i had them with me and without a beat i and the twins were banned from shopping with us. it was funny that they assumed we would stay put when we could so easily sneak into Diagon Alley, or Nocturne Alley, or even the muggle streets, and that was after we decided to order a butterbeer at the bar from Tom.
he served us quickly with large glasses straight off the tap and we drank the sweet butterscotch liquid as the foam created dots on our noses and gave us each a mustache. once we were finished we continued to sit their even though we didn't order anything else. after years we finally felt like we were being treated like the older kids. we were maturely immature if that made sense to anyone. but, it made sense to us because that is what we are.
"when's Mum and dad going to be back?" Fred asked his twin.
"we've got three hours judging by the time it usually takes when it isn't quite so crowded." he replied.
"Perfect." Fred said grabbing my hand off the tabled as he pulled me off my bar stool and led me to the door that led to the muggle world.
"so where to first?" i asked as we stepped over the door frame seeing the magicless world around us.
"lets go see how weird their clothing stores are." George suggested.
we followed George down the street until we entered a clothing store behind him and we looked around at the horrendously normal clothing racks. there were patterns all over the shirts that were sure to crack if you washed it too many times and there were holes in some of the clothes as if moths had gotten loose and only attached those clothes. some of the shirts looked like they had been puked on by a rainbow and don't even get me started on the chains. no one needed their pants to have an extra five pounds of metal hanging off of them.
"Chloe, you seem horrified." said Fred acknowledging my distasteful expression.
"what is this place called?" i questioned.
"i don't know but it reminds me of a Hot Topic." George said with his head looking in the direction of the ceiling looking at some vulgar t-shirts.
"what is a Hot Topic?" i asked.
"you are." Fred said as he winked then walked away.
"i walked into that one." i said as i sighed and followed him.
Fred chuckled as he looked back at me for a moment then continued to walk further into the store. we looked around for a moment longer then George decided that he had enough and led us out of the store. we didn't by anything and had decided that we would stay far from this shop if ever we decided to return to this particular muggle street.
after that experience we were all nervous about any other clothing stores so we decided we would just walk around for a bit. if we didn't buy anything there was no evidence that we were here. plus, we have no muggle money so there was no point unless we decided to just steal something and we weren't that idiotic.
as we were walking a man came up to us with a camera around his neck. he looked young but not like he was our age. he had to be at least twenty and we were only fifteen so i don't know what he was getting at when he started talking to me.
"you are probably the most beautiful girl I've seen today. can i have your number?" he asked.
"what number?" i asked but was quickly interrupted by the twins shouting at him that i was fifteen as they slapped his hand away that was reaching to touch me. they quickly pulled me away and had upset looks on their faces as we sat down on an empty bench with our hearts beating fast.
