a few days had passed since the whole situation with destroying the stone and the end of term had arrived. exams had gone well and Harry was back to normal with only a few small scratches on his face and a wrap around his wrist.

we were at the end of year banquet at the moment and had stuffed our faces with more food than we would normally have been able to eat but the twins and i made sure to save space for lots of pie.

once our desert dishes had been cleared Professor Dumbledore stood and moved to the pedestal at the front of the great hall. as his heels clicked against the ground the room slowly fell into hushed whispers. each table waited in anticipation for the final announcements to be made although everyone knew what was about to be announced.

the headmaster reminisced over the year with a bright glint in his eye that could be seen even through his half moon spectacles. "Now as i understand it, the house cup here needs awarding, and the points stand thus: In fourth place, Gryffindor, with three hundred and twelve points; in third, Hufflepuff, with three hundred and fifty-two; Ravenclaw has four hundred and twenty-six and Slytherin, four hundred and seventy-two."

i clapped politely for the Slytherins but they certainly did not deserve an applause by the way they were acting at the moment. Dumbledore even had to shout to get them to shut up.

"i have a few last minute points to dish out," The Slytherin's were now dead silent. "To Ronald Weasley, for the best-played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years, i award Gryffindor house fifty points."

i couldn't imagine what the other people thought of this since they had no context of anything. "Dumbledore just wanted to see Gryffindor win before he dies I'm sure of it." i whispered to the twins making them snicker.

"second- to Miss Hermione Granger... for the use of cool logic in the face of fire, i award Gryffindor house fifty points." Hermione buried her face into her hands out of embarrassment.

"third- to Mr. Harry Potter..." the room went dead silent, "... for pure nerve and outstanding courage, i award Gryffindor house sixty points." the Gryffindor table erupted with chatter. we only needed ten more points.

"before i award the last points it would do well to thank Miss Chloe Black, on behalf of the wizarding world, for in the face of immortality, your fellow student chose to eradicate any chance that the Philosophers stone could be used for harm ever again. i do believe your fellow student would have my head if i broke her streak of losing house points so i will move on to the last person i would like to thank."

"it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award ten points to Mr. Neville Longbottom." i jumped out of my seat and began clapping loudly for Neville and the Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team joined me. not just for Neville but for his courage that pushed us past the top.

we have won the house cup!

The Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws as well as the rest of the Gryffindors joined in the cheering because Slytherin had finally witnessed their own downfall. Dumbledore quieted us down and announced that we had won the house cup and it was no use quieting us down after that. the banners were scarlet and gold at last.

on the way out of the great hall i slipped away from the twins to speak with Dumbledore about my housing arrangement. i had spent the entire previous summer in the leaky cauldron alone for the most part and i didn't want to be that lonely again. i had thought about asking for the Weasleys to be my legal guardians but i still had a living guardian so it seemed to make more sense for me to stay with Remus.
