Chapter 22: Fear

Alcina's POV

You and Y/N were still awake when the sun rose up into the sky, Y/N had refused to sleep and so had you, making sure no one came in. Y/N was still tensed up and her shaking had lessened, but was still intense. You felt uncontrollable rage, you still had no idea what that maid had done to Y/N, but whatever she did, Y/N refused to let you touch her, everytime you got too close she would growl and whine until you were a far distance from her. You give a small sigh and begin to make your way to the door, making sure to go as slow as possible in order not to scare Y/N further. You circle around her as she gives a slight whine that makes your heart shatter, before leaving the room and making your way to the dining hall to eat.

~A short while later~

Cassandra's POV

You sit and eat in the dining hall with your mother and sisters, you're all quietly eating, the silence was uncomfortable. You had all heard a scream last night and when you went to investigate your mother shooed you all away, you all knew something was wrong with Y/N, she had been missing all morning and Y/N was the only one who could make your mother worry this much.

"Mother, what happened to Y/N?" you questioned

You could see the pain and anger in your mother's golden eyes, whatever had happened, it was bad.

"I am unsure girls." she whispered

"Mother, where's Y/N?" Dani asked

"Don't worry she's safe in my room, but she won't, or can't, speak to me." you could see the tears threatening to come out of your mother's eyes, it broke your heart, "she won't even let me touch her." she whispered the last part.

It broke your heart to see your mother like this, and you wonder what happened to make Y/N so afraid.

"Can we see her?" Bela asked

She had been worried ever since the forest incident.

"I-I'm unsure." your mother croaked, "But we can try."

You all got up from the table and made your way to your mother's room, about halfway there you all heard a crash, then a scream, followed by a whimpering growl. You all rush to the source, turning into your fly swarms to get there faster. You reach your mother's room, the door is flung open and one of the many vases lay broken on the floor, a terrified maid sitting in the corner. You quickly pin the maid to the wall, she had frizzy brown hair and dark brown skin, her almond brown eyes looked into your golden ones.

"What happened?" you say in a low threatening voice

The maid was on the verge of tears, she swallowed before answering.

"I-I was cleaning the vase and something came bolting out the Lady's room, it was big and black." she stuttered out

You release her and look to your sisters, they all looked at you before turning into their swarms and splitting up to find Y/N. The maid was slowly backing away but you grab her by her sleeve and drag her to a random hallway before questioning her about what happened to Y/N.

Y/N's POV

You could feel yourself running, running for dear life. You just wanted to feel safe again, but the thought of being touched made your skin crawl. All you wanted was your lady, but what if she hurt you, like K did. You ran until your legs hurt and duck into a room, you didn't know where you were, only that no one was there and you were safe. You felt yourself resting on the floor in a corner, your black fur making you unseen, you hid your head in your body and refused to move. You didn't feel safe to go back to your body, not yet, not when you felt so exposed and variable.
