Chapter 28: Spring

It had been two days after you and Alcina had gotten engaged and you practically skipped around the castle, happiness and joy lifting you off your feet. You suddenly catch a whiff of Mary's scent and turn a corner to see her pressed against the wall, making out with Dani. You clear your throat and they both turn to you, Dani's entire face turned bright pink and Mary rolled her eyes jokingly.

"Did I interrupt something?" you jokingly questioned

"Moooom!" Dani yelled borrowing her embarrassed face into Mary's neck

"Dani dearest, what's wrong? Why so embarrassed~" Mary teased

Dani only got more embarrassed and continued to clutch onto Mary. You give a small chuckle and pass by them, but before you left you called out to Dani.

"Dani, I suggest you don't make out where your mother can see you."

"Mom!" Dani called out but you were already gone

You chuckle and wander around the castle for a while until you end up in the hall of four. You suddenly smell something familiar and following the scent you open a door revealing the Duke. He smiled when you opened the door and gestured for you to come in.

"Ahh Y/N, it's good to see you again."

"Hey Duke, it's been a while."

"Have your powers been kind to you?"

"Ya, nothing abnormal and shifting is actually painless and unnoticeable."

"Not that power Y/N, Dream Walking."

You paused for a moment. You had forgotten that you were a Dream Walker, you hadn't done it in almost a year, and even then that was by accident.

"To be honest," you muttered, "I haven't been able to Dream Walk in about a year."

"You won't be able to control it, it will come when you need to know something of importance."

You just nod your head, pondering the situation, but before you had gotten too deep into your thoughts, the Duke pulled you out of them.

"Have you heard anything from Ethan and Mia?"

"Yes actually, they say that they're doing fine and that little Rose started learning how to walk."

"That's sweet, do you think they'll visit?"

"Actually Alcina said that it's alright for them to come for two weeks next week, spring is pretty much here and the snow has melted."

"I think that it would be nice to have a child in the castle, and I think the other lords also wish to see Ethan and his family again."

You smile and leave the room, before you left the Duke muttered something that even your sensitive ears couldn't catch. Shrugging it off you make your way to the kitchen and take an apple from the counter, taking a bite you immediately spit it out. It tasted disgusting, like it was roten, you look at the apple and it looked perfectly healthy, you suddenly get a strong pain and familiar in your stomach. Two months and a week, that's how long you could go without hunting.

You walked out the kitchen rushing to get out of the castle, rushing to get out before you hurt someone. You crashed into Bela and you both fell over, Bela saw you struggling to breath and tried to help you up.

"N-no Bela d-don't!" she froze and you quickly got up to her feet

"What's wrong?"

"I need to go, like last time."

"Go? Why are you leaving?!"

"The forest, I-I need to go, t-tell your m-mother, she'll u-understand."

You quickly rush away and leave the castle, quickly passing the gates and running into the lycan infested forest, no longer bare and dead, the forest was so many shades of vibrant green. You run, the greens blurring in your eye sight, you quickly go to a cave you had found last time and strip down before shifting completely, your skull wolf coming out and in control. You walk out and give a howl, letting the entire country know that the hunt had started.

Alcina's POV

You were examining the beautiful ring that Y/N had presented you with. When you had called and told your siblings about it Donna was excited and Angie was, well, Angie, and Heisenberg was surprisingly not a douchebag about it. Your mind wondered and you realized that the man- thing Ethan Winters was bringing his family down for a visit, you sighed heavily, at first you didn't want them to come but when Y/N insisted, well you couldn't really say no. You suddenly heard a sharp knock on the door.

"Enter!" you called

Bela bursts into your room with a frantic look on her face, you look at your daughter and get her to calm her breathing before asking what was wrong.

"Now my little bug, can you tell me what happened?"

"Y/N, s-she left!"

"Did she tell you why?"

You felt panic and worry rise in your chest.

"All she said was that she needed to go to the forest."

You relax and sigh. You and your little pup had talked about this, you both knew this would happen eventually, but you both didn't know how long, well until today.

"It's quite alright my little firefly." you purred to your panicked daughter.

You picked her up and sat in the balcony chair, letting her sit on your lap and hugged her close. Just then you hear a wolf-like howl, you turn to the direction of the sound and smile before explaining to your oldest what is going on.

"Remember, Y/N's a werewolf. Even though she's mostly human around us, she still has to give her other half a chance to run free."

"Like how me and my sisters sometimes go hunting?"

"Something like that, but this is more of a requirement than a hobby."

You and your eldest chuckled and looked at the sensory.

"When will she be back?" you heard her whisper

"Soon." you whisper back, "If she's not back by nightfall, she'll be back by morning."

Bela nodded and hugged you close, you kissed her head and hugged her back, smiling as your daughter began to doze off.
