"Why did you invite him Hunter? He can be such a douche." Kevin whined out as they finished setting up their instruments on stage at Mike's Bar.
"Brody's cool man. I get that he's got a couple of screws loose but he likes our sound. He said he invited some friends too. Figured the more publicity the better." Hunter shrugged.
"Great, more hooligans to tag along." Kevin mumbled back.
They invited all their friends tonight as well but Lisa and Clay were busy since Mollycoddle were playing their own show at a friends birthday party. So none of them would be joining.
Emily and Kevin checked in with Frankie earlier in the day to make sure the coast would be clear for her not to show up. Knowing she was out galivanting around with whoever else, or so she claimed. They figured she was at home for the night. Unexpecting to see her stumble into the bar during the second half of their setlist.
Hunter's eyes followed Brody through the crowd as he stormed off to the door. Seeing him look angry all of a sudden. Realizing why when watching him approach what looked like his older brother and a certain girl of Hunter's nightmares and dreams. Recognizing her within a skip of his heartbeat. He knew her anywhere. The fallen angel herself.
Laying eyes on Francesca Sullivan once again.
Hunter almost choked on stage while singing. She was the last person he thought would show up. He looked over at Emily as he tried to focus on the song. She saw what was happening and nodded to him for encouragement to continue on.
He quickly refocused and slid his fingers over his guitar's neck. Putting every current emotion into his performance. Yet he still couldn't take his eyes off of Frankie at the bar. Seeing her laugh and smile from the side.
What the hell was she doing with Chester Elliot? She hadn't even looked in Hunter's direction. Maybe she had no idea Skullflower was on stage? She must be real distracted to not even notice them. Surely she would not have came tonight if she knew they were the ones playing.
The trio planned on closing their show out with a more heavy cover of a Dio song but Hunter had scratched that idea on the spot. Turning around to approach Kevin and Emily.
"We're playing Machinery." He flatly stated.
Before Kevin could question or fight him on the change Hunter turned back towards the microphone. Playing the opening riff to his song as he saw Frankie's body physically freeze at the bar.
Letting out a deep growl into the microphone before he began singing.
