"....It's my mom." Hunter stated.

He felt his heart sink into his stomach as the now stranger stared back at him. How could this even be? Why was she here?

He didn't know whether to lash out, scream, cry or ignore her completely. His mind was a whirlwind as his face remained a blank stare.

"Well, are you gonna just stand there or give me a hug honey? I missed you. Look how long your hair has gotten." His mom laughed out. Waiting for his excitement for her return to show.

"I told you. He wouldn't want to see you." Dr. Sylvester warned her. Annoyed that she was trying to speak to his son.

"Hush up. I know my son and I know all this excitement is probably just getting to him. Are these your little friends Hunts?" His mom asked while happily looking at Frankie and Brody as they stood behind him.

"They were just leaving." Hunter stated as he kept his monotone voice.

"What?" Frankie questioned. Feeling a tad thrown off by him kicking them out. Especially since neither of them drove here or had a way home.

Hunter grabbed his keys from the table and dropped them in Frankie's hand. Without even looking her way.

"Take Brody home. You can keep my car for now, I'll get it back later."

"Hunter, are you sure? We don't have to-" Frankie started out.

"I'm sure. Just get out Sullivan, I told you to leave." He said harshly as he kept his eyes on his mother in front of him.

Frankie fought back a scoff at his abruptness with her. Trying to chalk it up to his mother's return but she still felt hurt in a sense. She pushed past Hunter with her shoulder as she left.

"Thanks again man." Brody said as the pair walked up the basement stairs to leave.

Receiving a pity smile from Dr. Sylvester as the awkward tension was evident.

"I thought his mom like died or something?" Brody questioned as Frankie fumbled with Hunter's car keys in her hand.

"She might as well have. Left him in middle school without even giving a goodbye. He hasn't seen her since then." She said while trying to stop herself from angry crying.
