Blue Monday-New Order

"I can't believe you really said all of that to her." Emily spoke as the trio took a small break from Skullflower's band practice.

"You can't? It's pretty Hunter of him to say all that." Kevin shrugged. Not shocked to hear his best friend's words towards the other girl.

Hunter had explained to them what happened last week at the party and then afterwards between him and Frankie. Not holding back on what he said to her after bringing her back here to sleep.

"Was a bit harsh sounding is all I'm saying." Emily commented again.

"Oh oh I'm sorry, am I not allowed to express how I feel now?" Hunter's voice became a little higher while defending himself.

"When has anyone stopped you from verbalizing your inner thoughts before? No one's saying you can't." Kevin chimed in with Emily agreeing.

Hunter shrugged. His friends making valid points.

"I want to see the note again." Emily held out her hand as Kevin passed the crinkled up piece of paper over to her.

"All she wrote was thank you. What else is there to see?" Hunter raised his brow in question.

"Maybe we missed something?"

"Like a hidden code or some shit? There was nothing to it but good luck with that Sherlock." Hunter scoffed out. Sitting back in his chair.

Emily stuck her tongue out at him and returned to Frankie's small message.

"I mean at least she left you that and thanked you. That has to count for something right?" Kevin asked hopefully.

"With her? Ozzy only knows. You guys are talking more now Em. What'd she say about it all?" Hunter sat on the edge of his chair to listen in.

"Oh no, no. Don't involve me anymore in this. If any chat pertains to you she shuts me out instantly. I've learned it's best to let her come to you on her own terms. We should all know by now. She will conversate to whoever, whenever, she is ready."

They nipped the Frankie talk in the butt and returned to band practice. Getting in one more before school was to start in a couple days.

Hunter tried to stay focused instead of wondering how their return to school would go. Impatient to see Frankie and if they would share any conversations.

Frankie spent her own last few days before school with Lisa and Clay. Using up Clay's pool before summer was fully over. Also using that time to reconnect with the pair. They were both thankfully understanding and gave their full support as always, for whatever she needed.

A huge weight lifted off of Frankie's shoulders when she smoothed things over with everyone important in her life in such little time. There was only one person left to try and make some form of amends with. The one she was most nervous about and still unsure if she should even try.

Hunter Alan Sylvester.
