See You On The Other Side-Ozzy
(Sorry I've been MIA for a while! My life has started falling apart all over the place 😅 I swear I will finish this book eventually! Thank you everyone for being patient -Sin)
A soft knock tapped upon Frankie's open bedroom door. Like someone was nervous the smallest noise was going to frighten her or chase her away.
She barely looked over from where she silently sat at her makeup vanity. Breaking the staring contest with herself and the mirror to view Hunter standing in the doorway.
She took notice of his black jeans and matching black buttoned up shirt. His sleeves were rolled up slightly to his elbows in their normal fashion. The thought of a smile briefly waved over her lips at the sight but it disappeared just as quickly as the thought came.
"You doing alright in here babe?" Hunter questioned softly as he leaned against the doorframe. Folding his arms across each other as he somberly looked her over. Having his own unsettling feeling inside his chest but he was trying to keep his composure.
Frankie gave a subtle nod. Turning her head back to face the vanity's mirror once again. Realizing it was pointless to keep trying to apply concealer to the dark, restless bags underneath her eyes.
The pair were almost ready to attend Brody's funeral.
It's had been almost two weeks since senior prom night. Chester was arrested immediately when the cops showed up. The Elliot brother's dad tucked tail and left town afterwards. Not caring to deal with either misfortunate outcomes of his son's lives.
Everyone knew their dad was more upset about Chester being locked up than losing his other son's life. Proving even more how much of a monster he was as well. He was just bummed out to lose his favorite drug dealer and drinking buddy.
"Emily downstairs set?" Frankie questioned with her back still turned to Hunter. He hummed a small yes back in response. Knowing the rest of their friends were there waiting as well.
Hunter could hear the soft sniffles in her voice as he stepped closer to where she sat. He placed his hands gently on her shoulders, over her black sleeved dress. Rubbing his thumbs in a soothing manner across the mesh like fabric. If she wasn't so emotionally drained, his comfort would have made her burst into instant tears again.
She and Hunter practically spent the night at the police station after prom. Having to give their statements on what happened and live it over and over. They knew court would be just around the corner for Chester and they would have to attend. There's never been a more stressful time in either of their lives. The only reassurance they had, was each other.
They were one another's rock to lean on. Through thick and thin. Neither could imagine a single second without the other one by their side. Maybe it was a little unhealthy but they were nervous to let the other out of their sight after that night. Terrified of the risk of possibly losing the other in such a horrible way.
"Everyone else should be here by now too. You want me to tell them you need a second to finish up?" Hunter offered. A part of him was hoping they could lock themselves in and hide in the bedroom forever.
Frankie quickly shook her head no and cleared her throat. Snapping herself out of it. She was ready to get this sorrow filled day over with.
