Aaliyah left the restroom without any underwear on, wholeheartedly defying the possessive professor — he just didn't know it yet but he definitely wasn't going to be thrilled when he found out. She had freshened up and felt so relieved.
Now she could enjoy the evening and have a decent conversation with his friends without being tortured and edged with no sign of release in sight.
When she returned to her table Sergio was fully engaged in the conversation he was having with his friends, listening attentively while they spoke but he could see her approaching from the corner of his eye.
"My apologies for my absence, ladies take forever." Aaliyah said sarcastically and all three men looked in her direction, Sergio's gaze however, was filled with rage. "I hope I'm not interrupting."
"Not at all." Thomas reassured. "Gi was about to tell us how you two met." The woman smirked and turned to look in his direction, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yes Sergio, how did we meet?" She asked, raising her eyebrow, looking at the man in amusement waiting for him to answer the burning question.
The man was cool as ice under pressure, enjoying the way Aaliyah was taunting him because by the end of the night he'd have the last laugh. He sipped the last bit of his alcohol, gently placing the glass down. "The two of you would just love to hear that story wouldn't you?"
"They wouldn't ask if they weren't interested in hearing the story Gi. So please, the stage is yours. Your friends are waiting." The man chuckled and licked his lips, giving Aaliyah one glance before turning his attention to Thomas and Aiden.
"I already love you." Aiden said to the woman, making Aaliyah chuckle. "You're the first woman that I've seen who actually challenges this infuriating gentleman. It's exactly what he needs."
Sergio clenched his fists underneath the table and his jaw ticked. "Honestly I agree, welcome to the family." Thomas said and everyone laughed, everyone besides Sergio who just smiled and shook his head.
"I appreciate the warm welcome, so how long have you two known this man?" The subject about how they met was now long forgotten and the two men took turns to explain how they met the professor and how long they've been friends.
Both Aiden and Thomas approved of Aaliyah, it was easy to decipher based on the flow of their conversation. There wasn't ever an awkward moment or uncomfortable silence.
The only person who was silent was Sergio but his friends already knew that was his usual demeanour and just his personality, at least around them it was.
For Aaliyah it was unfamiliar territory because he was always very vocal, affectionate and had no problem telling her what he was thinking or feeling so she found the silence unnerving.
The man was in a daze but quickly snapped out of it when he heard where their conversation was headed. "What are you studying?" Thomas asked.
He snapped his head in Aaliyah's direction and zeroed in on her face, seeing if she'd falter. "I major in Sociology."
Sergio's friends knew he was a professor but they weren't aware of which subject he taught due to the fact that he could teach multiple subjects so they were still in the safe zone — for now.
"Beauty and brains, Gi you hit the jackpot with this woman." Aaliyah laughed at Thomas' comment while Sergio just gave a half smile.
"Definitely." The professor finally spoke, it was evident that there was an underlying menacing sound in his tone. "She's absolutely phenomenal." He meant that, in every sense — despite the fact that his anger caused by jealousy and frustration was simmering and threatening to spill, he wouldn't miss the opportunity to compliment the seductress.
