Chapter 19

Abigail's POV

Ryan and the rest of the boys were ready to go on stage, I had arranged to stand with Alice and Dean. We were standing at the front between the barrier and the stage, that way Ryan could keep his eye on me.

I looked behind me and the venue was full to the brim "How many are here tonight?" I asked Alice as I look around.

"18,000"

"Jesus no wonder they are buzzing for tonight, did Ryan give you the set list?"

"Yeah he did honey, not that they usally stick to it" Alice chuckled, she was right they never really played what they said they would. They usually went with what the crowd wanted "He also said that I need to stick to you like glue tonight, no repeat of what happened last week"

"Oh god did he really say that?" I frown and look up at the stage, the intro is starting up.

"Yep he sure did, and I can't say I blame him. What happened last week should never have happened honey"

My body shuddered as I remember hands grabbing me and pulling me into the crowd "But don't worry Bobby will keep you safe tonight"

"Thanks" I look at the big muscular man standing in front of me, he looks the part but isn't nearly as aggressive as Leroy. I was glad when Ryan told me he was coming back tomorrow, he always made me feel safe.

It was almost an hour into the show and Alice had kept her promise, she hadn't left my side all night. I had already regretted my decision to wear my black Louboutin ankle boots, my feet were aching. Ryan was half way through introducing Feel Again, when he turned quickly as he was trying to get his jacket off. I wasn't sure how he had managed it but he launched the microphone in our direction. I reached up and caught it, Ryan was laughing as I handed him his microphone back "You might need this" as I leant up to give it him back he crouched down and kissed me.

The people on the front few rows screamed "Oh my god Abi's here" I heard one of the girls behind us say, it wasn't long before they were shouting trying to get my attention. I stepped closer to the stage so they couldn't grab me, Dean was now standing behind me.

"So what's going on between you two?" Alice had worked too closely with us both, not to know something was going on "He has been watching you like a hawk since you got back from the hospital"

"Okay but you have to swear not to tell anyone" I frown and move closer to Alice so she can hear me, the last thing I wanted to do was announce my news to the fans behind us. Alice nodded "I'm pregnant"

"Oh my god I knew it" Alice's reaction surprised me a little, had we really been that obvious since we got back from the hospital "How far along?"

"6 Weeks"

"Oh wow I bet Ryan is excited, his first baby" Alice was extremely excited, but managed to conceal it from everyone around us. I guess Ryan knew I had told her, he looked over and smiled at us.

"Babies" I corrected and Alice just stared at me, I held two forward facing fingers up, so it didn't look like I was insulting her "Two babies, it's twins"

"Oh gosh Abi, that's amazing" Alice wrapped her arms around me and almost crushed me "I take it no-one else knows yet?"

"Not yet" I looked up at Ryan who was smiling, he had just massively messed up one of the lyrics for Counting Stars. Zach and Brent were also shaking their heads at him, they also had smiles on their faces.

"Everything that kills me, makes me feel alive..." I found myself singing along "I feel your love and I feel it burn, down this river, every turn..." Ryan was now stood at the edge of the stage right in front of us, the girls behind us were going wild.

"RYAN, RYAN I LOVE YOU" their screams were deafening, but also amazing to hear. Ever since Ryan and the guys started out in OneRepublic, they had always dreamed that they would make it this big. In fact Ryan had even said that he though after Apologize he thought that was it for them, then they made Counting Stars and everything took off for them. I was so proud of him especially when I think back to the time he thought about giving it all up. He had spoken to me about just writing songs for other people...

Flashback

It had all happened in the space of a week, Ryan had wrote two multimillion selling songs for other artists but seemed to be struggling finishing the songs for his own band. Brent, Drew and Zach had spent most of the last month at our house trying to wrap up their new album.

"So what exactly did Alice say?" I spoke to Ryan who was standing in the kitchen with me, I had never seen him so frustrated "Did she say why?"

"No just that the record label were concerned I was handing my hits to other labels and not focusing on the band, they said if this next album isn't successful then they are seriously going to consider their next step" I could hear the genuine worry in Ryan's voice. I walked closer to him and hugged him tightly.

We had been together for just over 2 years and things were going amazingly for us both until now "Baby it's just a snag, I am sure once you write the rest of this album and release it. Well I think it will be your biggest yet. Have faith because I have faith in you"

I looked into his eyes which were more grey than blue and thats when I realised how heavy this was playing on his mind "Hey look at me" I lift his head with my fingers before resting it on his chest "If if this doesn't go your way, we've still got us. We've still got eachother. I love you Ryan Tedder and nothing will ever change that"

After our conversation things started to pick up Ryan finally wrote lyrics to another two songs one he said was about us and then another he wrote to honour his grandfather.

Back to present

"Do you ever wake up sometimes and think wow I am thirty something years old what have I done with my life? Well I woke up panicking about this sometime ago, it was one of those nights where everything in your mind comes flooding in at once, almost to the level where you feel like you're losing it. I was thinking wow I am already the third of the way to...well whatever, then I rolled over and I saw my wife sleeping next to me and I thought...hell well if you only die once at least I'm dying with her" he pointed his arm towards me and smiled. The crowd were screaming wildly, Ryan winked at me and walked to the other side of the stage where Brent was sat at the piano.

"I had a dream the other night, about how we only get one life. It woke me up right after 2, I stayed awake and stared at you so I wouldn't lose my mind..."

The crowd were singing the lyrics to the chorus as Ryan moved all around the stage interacting with 18,000 people "This is one of my favourites" Alice said into my ear so I could hear her.

"Mine too" I smiled back.

"So it should be it was written about you" Alice giggled "Hey listen I need to ask you something?"

"Yeah sure what is it?" I turn to face Alice who looks nervous...

She didn't get chance to reply, while I was distracted talking to her I felt an arm loop around my waist and pull me backwards. Alice grabbed my arms instinctively and within seconds Bobby had ripped me away from him, as I looked round I saw Ryan jumping down off the stage. He must have seen what had happened.
