Chapter 53

Ryan's POV

Abi wasn't picking up any of her calls, not from me, her Mom, Tony, or even Freya. This wasn't like her at all, I shouldn't really be surprised though I expected it after what has just happened. I know she had been talking to Nick about telling Freya everything that happened, and to be honest I had a feeling he wasn't going to be too happy about it. I mean why would he, the whole world was about to find out the exact reason Abi and Nick's marraige ended. And what was worse, so was Freya...

"Any luck yet?" Stella came up behind me.

"No, I'm guessing her conversation didn't go well with Nick" I reply.

"Why would it? People will start and realise exactly who's fault the divorce was" Stella's hostility towards Nick surprised me a little "Ryan just because we are polite to Nick doesn't mean we like him, after everything he put our daughter through. Let's just say Frank and I don't think he should of got away with it the way he did. He allowed all the fans to blame Abi for the separation. Yes Abi agreed keeping the infidelity a secret was best for Freya...but I can assure you Nick was only thinking about protecting his own reputation. He was more than happy to let people think Abi's relationship with you was the reason they separated"

"I never realised you felt this way"

"Nick is spineless, he always has been" I have never seen this bitter side of Stella "Frank and I were so happy when she introduced us to you Ryan, and I'm not just saying that. You let Abi be successful, without all the guilt, she is herself with you"

"Do you think so?"

"Yes, when I see you to together it's like watching Frank and I. You push each other to succeed, but you are also aware that one is not complete without the other. You can never out grow each other because you can only grow with each other" Stella had practically hit the nail on the head when she explained me and Abi in the way. She was spot on, this is exactly how felt about Ab's I just wasn't able to put it into words.

"Do you think she is okay?" I wonder, Stella puts her hand on my arm.

"She is strong Ryan, but in this case she probably needs you honey" Stella was right, I needed to go and find my wife.

It wasn't long before Drew, Zach, Eddie and Brent had all agreed to help look for Abi, they were as worried as I was. Leroy was still keeping Freya occupied while we all searched Stella called Nick to find out what happened.

I had started to try and think like Abi and that's what led me out onto the fire escape. There she was sat on the top step with her legs crossed "Hey baby, we have been trying to call you?" I sat beside her, her face was tears stained.

"I know I'm sorry, I just didn't feel like talking" she replied distantly "I'm really sorry you got dragged into all of this" she turned to face me.

"Hey don't apologise, that bastard had it coming" I frown "I better call the guys they are all looking for you"

"What did they say?" She was obviously concerned what the other guys thought of her.

"They think Dominic Hendley is disgusting" I put my hand on her face and wipe her tears away with my thumb "They think Creston got what he deserved and they all still love you" a smile started in the corner of Abi's mouth "That's better"

"I wish I knew what to do?" She rested her head on my shoulder and exhaled deeply "Freya is at such a delicate age, this could destroy her Ryan"

"Yeah and what's the alternative? Abi even if you don't tell her someone else will. At least if you tell her she will get the truth not some journalists fabricated version" I say softly "It should come from her Mom"

"I know, I just...oh I don't know. What a fucking mess"

Suddenly my cellphone vibrated in my pocket causing us both to jump "Hi Zach" I listen to Zach speak "Yeah okay I'm coming now"

"Whats wrong?" Abi stood up with me.

"Nothing baby" I lie unconvincingly.

"Ryan?" She pushes and I cave instantly.

"Creston wants to press charges, the police are inside waiting to speak to me"

"Are you fucking serious right now? What a dick" Abi lashed out and kicked the door. She then flung it open and stomped back inside "He's isn't getting away with this..."

"Abi where are you going?" I grab Abi's arm and she turns to face me.

"You go and talk to the police" she runs her hand down my cheek and rests it on my chest "I'm going to have a little chat with Creston" The look on Abi's face tells me she has something planned, and whether I like it or not I am in no position to argue. I nod kiss her gently and head back toward the stage door. Sure enough the police are waiting for me, with Zach and Eddie.

"Mr Tedder?" One of the officers asks I nod "We have had a report of an assult that took place here earlier this afternoon...an assult on Mr Creston"

"Bullshit" Eddie spat, I held my hand up to show Eddie it was okay, he backed off a little.

"What about it?" I reply calmly "If you want to know what happened...I hit him yeah"

"In self defence of course officer" Stella stepped forwards "Mr Creston presented himself violently towards Abigail, my daughter, Ryan's wife...he was protecting her and his twins"

We all looked at Stella "You see she is 6 months pregnant officer, Ryan feared for her safety when Mr Creston started to get forceful and aggressive. He wanted a story you see. I am sure you will agree under the circumstances Ryan was only doing what any man would have, including yourselves"

"It's not our place to comment madam, we still need to hear Mr Tedders side of the story" the officer seemed to be trying to help me "Is that what happened Mr Tedder, because if it did we would have to discard Mr Creston's allegations"

I look at Stella who is nodding discreetly "Erm yeah that's exactly what happened"
