Jackson
I feel the cool air of the fan hitting my face in the morning and turn over to nuzzle my head in the side of Ameeriah's neck.
I breathe in her scent and it's like strawberries and cream.
She starts to stir and we slowly get up to start getting ready to head downstairs.
We go downstairs and I hear the soft chatter of my sisters talking.
Right as we turn the corner into the kitchen, I hear the snicker of Meg.
"Awe Jackie you didn't wear your SpongeBob pajama pants?" While looking down at my plaid pajama pants I have on. I hear Ameeriah chuckle beside me and I push her shoulder a little bit.
"Morning Jackie, morning Ameeriah," Lizzie says as she turns to look at us behind her from flipping pancakes.
"Morning Lizzie," I mumble as I walk over to Taylor, who's making bacon.
I start to reach over her shoulder to steal a piece of bacon, but she swats my hand away.
"Get the hell away this is for breakfast," she shouts as she tries to sho me away.
"What do you think I'm doing!" I shout back. "It's breakfast!"
"You don't get to eat it all before everything is ready!"
I just roll my eyes and walk back over to the table where Ameeriah is sitting with her navy blue pajama pants and a cream colored long sleeve top.
"Do you want a coffee?" I say into her ear as I lean behind her with my arms on the table on either side of her.
"Yeah please," she says back and I push my weight into my arms to bounce off the table and go to pour her a mug of coffee.
"How'd you sleep Ameeriah?" Meg asks.
"I slept really good," I interrupt and Meg slaps me with a rag.
"Pretty good," Ameeriah laughs.
"Pancakes are ready," Lizzie says as she walks over to the counter with a plate full of pancakes.
My mom ends up waking up and we all eat breakfast together.
As we pile our plates, mom watches us all begin to eat.
It actually feels pretty normal. I don't know why I thought that this weekend was gonna be a shitshow.
Now that I'm back with my sisters and mom, going back to college seems like a worse deal.
"I'm so glad I have all my babies back in my house," she says, and it almost sounds a little sad. I look over to look at her and she quickly pipes up. "And Ameeriah I'm so glad you're here," she said more happily. "I hope Jackson isn't driving you too crazy," she laughs.
"He's.." She drifts off and looks over to me. "I've never met anyone like him," she says softly and then squints her eyes a little bit at me because I know she cringed saying that out loud.
Ameeriah
We spent the rest of the day just sitting around the house, watching movies, making food, baking cookies, and Jackson's sister's giving him a hard time.
We're laying on the couch watching Baby Daddy, me and Jackson next to each other, and his sisters on the other side of the couch.
"When do you guys have to go back?" Taylor asks.
"Tonight," Jackson says back quietly.
"Tonight?!" Taylor exclaims. "You just got here," she says lower.
"Ohhh T are you gonna miss me?" He drags out.
"No," she scoffs while rolling her eyes.
"You so are," he says in a excited voice as he rolls over to pull his sister into a hug.
"You're crushing me," he mumbles.
"Stop fighting it Taylor, you love me soooo much," he drags out.
She finally accepts the hug. "You big jerk."
"I want a hug," Elizabeth says as she climbs over to pile onto the hug. A second later Meg also roughly piles onto the hug.
"Ameeriah you can come hug too," Meg says as she pulls one of my arms to include me in the group hug and I laugh.
We hug for a second and then Jackson stands up, I move back to my spot on the couch and Meg slides off the side as he stands up, but Taylor and Elizabeth are still on him and he picks them up without struggle and tosses them on the couch.
"Okay, that's enough siblings for the day," he says.
"Shut up," Taylor says as she throws a pillow to his face and he catches it and chunks it back.
"Me and Ameeriah are gonna go pick up some ice cream," he says as he lowers his hand to me to help me stand up. "You losers want anything?" he asks his sisters.
"Chocolate."
"Birthday cake."
"Mint chocolate chip."
Jackson scrunches his face. "You're disgusting."
We begin to walk out of the living room and Jackson continues. "I can't even buy mint chocolate chip Meg, that's like, a disgrace to this country you gotta stop with that."
"I'm begging you to shut up," she replies.
"Whatever," he rolls his eyes and we walk out the door.
