Jackson
I ended up not going back home for spring break.
Apparently my mom made a trip to her mom's house. One of my sisters went to visit her long distance boyfriend and the other two were catching up on assignments so there was really no reason for me to drive back home.
It was pretty boring but it was nice to not have any work or studying.
Wes comes back tomorrow, and I decide to put on The Mazer Runner: The Death Cure and watch a little bit before I see a text from Max telling me that he's inviting a small group over to his place to play some card games and chill and so I text Ameeriah.
Me Max just texted to see if I wanted to come play cards and just hang for a bit, I think it's only gonna be a couple of us but I still want you to come if you're back in town yet
Ameeriah Yeah I came back yesterday to work on a group project I have, I'll be ready in just a bit
I wait about ten minutes before rolling off the couch to put on some shoes and grab my keys before heading out the door to pick up Ameeriah.
I think I've successfully been able to push the kiss to the back of my head and not let it consume me.
I'm just helping a friend out by making sure her ex doesn't know that we're faking dating. Sounds easy enough.
I text her that I'm here and in a couple minutes I see her walking towards my car and it almost looks like she has the slightest limp.
She's wearing a gray top that's tighter and has some buttons on the front. She's got some light wash baggie jeans on and some navy converse.
"Hey stranger," she says as she plops into the seat and turns to grab the seatbelt to buckle up.
"Were you limping?"
"Maybe a little, my pilates class this morning was brutal."
We put on some music as we drive and in a couple of minutes we're at Max's apartment.
He lives off campus with a few guys but it's not far.
When we walk in, there's a couple of guys from the team and a handful of girls.
They're already in the middle of a game.
"Are you limping Ameeriah?" Max asks.
"I think I—" she starts to say but he cuts her off.
"Is that from Jackson?" He lets out a chuckle.
"Shut the fuck up Max," I say before I even give Ameeriah the chance to respond.
She just laughs and we plop down beside them to watch them finish their game before we get dealt in.
We're playing Bullshit, which is a game where you go in order and put down a card facedown. Say you're on ace, the next person would put down a two, then the next would put down a three and so on. You put down a card each time, even if you don't have the card that you need.
The object of the game is to lie when you don't have the card you need to put down, but it someone catches you lying and says 'bullshit' then you have to take the whole stack, but if they think you're lying and call it, but they're wrong, then they have to take the whole stack. The person with no cards left wins.
After Max deals the cards, we start.
Within a couple of minutes, we're in the middle of a heated game and we're calling bullshit every two seconds.
"One Jack," Elijah says as he places his card facedown into the middle stack.
"BULLSHIT," I call out. I know he's lying because I have all four Jacks in my hand right now.
"Fuck you Jackson!" Elijah yells as he reaches over to take the whole deck.
We all laugh and I look over to Ameeriah, who's eyes get really small when she's laughing.
She has dimples that come out and she likes to cover her mouth whenever she's laughing. Just last week her mouth was—
"Jackson it's your turn, go," Tanner says and I quickly look back over to my cards to keep playing.
Forgetting about this kiss may be a little harder than I thought.
We continue playing and then I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.
I grab my phone and see that it's one of my sisters calling.
"Hey I'll be right back," I say as I get up and walk outside to answer.
