Three months later

Jackson

Spring semester is here and going back home for Christmas break made me do a lot of thinking.

For one, hearing my mom talk about my dad and everything she's going through with this divorce is fucking exhausting.

I think that makes me a terrible person for feeling that way because she's going through so much and I'm the one that was ready to back to college to get way from it all.

I'll get to put it out of my mind, but my mom can't. And I hate that I feel this way, but fuck I can't listen to it anymore.

But, on the other hand, I've decided that it's time for me to get my shit together.
I'm going celibate.

That actually fucking pains me to say but I can't keep hooking up with random chicks trying to fill whatever the fuck in me needs to be filled.

Do I want to? Fuck no.
Do I need to? Fuck yes.

Partially because I need to get my shit together, but majority reason is because I'm not losing my bet with Wes.

"Okay," I say to Wes, which causes him to look up.
"Okay what?"

"I'm ready to start the bet."
"Finally. $50 Jackson," he says.

"You're gonna owe me $50."
He scoffs. "In what world?"

Me and Wes almost finished unpacking everything back into our dorms and right there's a knock at the door.

"Who's that?" I ask as Wes walks over to open it.
"Adare," he says as he opens the door.

I see Adare through the door and he opens it a little wider and standing beside her is Ameeriah.
In light wash baggie jeans and a tank with some navy converse on.

They walk in and we say hi.
"Once we finish unpacking we're gonna go down to the indoor basketball courts for a bit, do you guys wanna come?" Wes says.

Ameeriah and Adare look at each other and then nod their head.
"Okay let me just finish hanging my clothes," I say as I walk over to the closet.

I throw a couple clothes on hangers before finishing my stack.
"Okay ready?" I ask, and we walk out the door.

Ameeriah

Me, Adare, Wes and Jackson walked down to the university courts.
The guys started some games and me and Adare found some bleachers to sit on.

"So.." I start. "How are things with you and Wes?"

Adare turns to me and smiles.
"Really good honestly. I can't believe I spent so many years hating him. We spent most of the break together with my dad."

"Ugh Adare that's the best trope," I say with a soft smile.
She scrunches her brows. "Trope?"

"Enemies to lovers, duh."

We both laugh and she tells me more about what she did over break, and I do the same.
We talk for a least thirty minutes while the guys are playing a game.

"Has Ryan tried to contact you anymore?" She says lowly with some concern.
I gulp.

Ryan was my boyfriend. We dated throughout high school but it didn't end very well.
And it would be fine and over with if he didn't attend the same university as me.

I never know when I could run into him and it's even harder because he tried contacting me all of last semester.
Trying to apologize for what he did, asking me to meet up, begging for a second change, etc etc etc.

He's a pig and he really hurt me.

"Yeah but," I pause to sigh, " I just keep blocking his accounts.
Adare looks at me with sincere eyes before our eyes go back over to the guys.

They took their shirts off and wow.
I mean damn, what are they putting into these guys' waters?
They're all tall and lean and their back muscles? Holy shit.

I look back down at my phone for a second because I think I'm getting flustered.
When I look back up, Jackson somehow ended up on the floor doing push ups.

"Oh come on," he drags out while continuing going up and down. "You call this a punishment for a foul? This is light work." He hops up off the ground quickly.

"I need to add some more weight," Jackson shouts and faces over to the bottom of the bleachers that me and Adare are at.

"Who wants to ride the pony hm? Ameeriah?"
No way in hell.

I scoff in a laugh. "Keep on moving Jackson."
"Adare?" He says.
"Fuck off Jackson," Wes says for her.

Jackson rolls his eyes and doesn't look fazed.
"You guys are so lame," he says before quickly adding, "I'm fucking starved let's go eat."

Some of the guys start to leave, and Wes and Jackson come back over to grab their shirts.
We decide on Mexican as we're walking out and Jackson won't stop talking about the new show that he's walking called School Spirits.

"Guys she was murdered AT THE SCHOOL," he continues to exclaim before Wes cuts him off. "Then what's the point of watching it if she's already dead?"

"Because," he drags on as he leans to open the door and hold it for us. He quickly turns around to face us again as he's holding the door. "She doesn't know how she was murdered OR who did it. That's a point, you idiot," he says facing Wes.

"Whatever you say Jackson," Wes says and pulls his arm around Adare.

"You get it, don't you Ameeriah?"
"I get it," I laugh.
