Jackson
The rest of the night is spent between cell phone calls between my mom and my three sisters.
Each worried about a different thing.
I could strangle my fucking dad.
I can't believe he would do something so fucking sick and twisted.
Every single time I think that maybe something will get better, he just keeps adding one thing after the other after the other after the other.
It's about 11PM at this point, and my phone vibrates again and I slide to answer it without even checking the name.
"Yeah," I say into the phone, but instead of hearing a distressed woman's voice, I hear Max.
"Hey J, I need you come over to Alec's right now."
"I can't tonight man, I'm sorry," I reply.
"No it's an emergency I need you to come here right now, it's serious."
My heart drops for the hundredth time tonight.
"What's wrong?" I say as I sit up from my bed.
"It's just— I can't explain, just come here," he says quickly.
I hurry and put my shoes on before going down the hall to where Alec lives.
Once I get to his door, I knock a couple of times and hear no reply.
I move my hand down to the knob to see if it's unlocked and it is.
"Max?" I say into the dark room when suddenly the lights flash on and about fifty people stand up and shout "SURPRISE!"
I widen my eyes and laugh a little. "Oh my gosh Max you scared the fuck out of me. I thought something was seriously wrong."
"Happy birthday man," Max says as he tosses a beer at me.
I look down at the beer can and for a second, I start to smile before remember everything that's going on at home.
I sigh. "I'm sorry dude I'm got some family stuff going on, I can't do this right now."
"Dude are you serious?" Alec starts.
"I'm really sorry. This was great, I really appreciate this but I really gotta go," I say so quickly and begin to head for the door.
I walk back to my room and turn on the tv in my room.
I feel like shit for having to leave but I just couldn't.
About fifteen minutes pass when I realize that I haven't heard my phone at all.
I reach into my pocket and then quickly realize that I must have forgotten it at Alec's place.
"Fuck," I say to myself under my breath.

When I get back to my room, I do about an hour of studying for the exam I have tomorrow morning before I get ready for bed.
I feel pretty prepared for it anyways.
Once I get into my pajamas, I get onto my phone to send Jackson a quick text.
Me I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this, I'll see u tomorrow
Me please get some rest
I do one last social media scroll before I put my phone down to go to sleep.
As I click through stories, my stomach drops as soon as I open Elijah's story.
It's a video of Jackson walking into a surprise party.
His eyes are wide and surprised and smile is smile is big.
I gulp.
What the fuck.
Did he lie about the shit going on with his mom?
Why would he lie about that? Why would he lie to me?
I already feel sick to my stomach.
My mind starts to spiral and my heart starts to speed up when I hear my text go off.
Jackie He's been busy inside of me and screaming my name, talk later?
When I finish reading it, I throw up.
