Chapter 18

Ameeriah

I don't mention anything Jackson told me, obviously, to Adare and Wes, but I don't even bring up anything with him.

It's almost spring break and I know Jackson's gonna want to go to some parties this weekend, so I make sure I'm caught up on all my work.

Me and Adare are going to eat lunch in the park outside and chat for a bit.
It's such a pretty sunny day out today, not too hot and with a nice breeze so it's perfect for lunch outside.

I throw on some Levi's shorts and a navy blue tank top with some lace on it and my maroon high top converse. I grab my bag and head out the door.

As soon as I walk across the hall and knock on Adare's dorm I hear her say, "one second!" from inside.
A second later she unlocks the door and I see Wes standing behind her with his arm holding the edge of the door, and the other on Adare's back.

"Hey Ameeriah," he says as he moves past Adare, removing the one hand that's on her by sliding it down her back and walks out the door.
Adare lets me in and as I look at her face I squint my brows.

Her face is slightly flushed and her lips are a bit swollen.
"Were you guys.." I drift off.
"What! No!" She says back defensively and I lower my eyes to her a little more.

"Wewerejustmakingout, okay you ready to go?" She says in one jumbled sentence.
"Jackson was so right," I mumble under a laugh.
"Right about what?" She says suspiciously.

Oops. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.
"Just that you guys are in heat for each other," I say and we both laugh.

We decide to pick up some chipotle bowls for lunch and we head over to order.
"A bowl with brown rice, chicken, black beans, lettuce, cheese and guac please," I order.

Once we pay, we head outside and walk a little bit over to the park and find a place to sit.

"What are your plans for spring break?" I ask Adare.
"Oh, nothing really. I'm just gonna go spend the week with my dad and I'm sure he's got something planned for us to do that week." And I nod. "What about you?"

"Same, I think I'm babysitting my cousins all week so, very exciting," I say sarcastically.

"Hey didn't you say a while back that your roommate still hadn't shown up? Is she there yet?" Adare asks in between bites of food.

I roll my eyes and sigh. "Literally no. I have no fucking idea where she's at and I have no way to contact her because she refused to even talk to me last semester. So, I don't really know. I mean," I swallow the bite of food in my mouth. "I hope she's..okay? I asked the RA if she was still listed as my roommate and she is so she's just MIA."

"Weird."
"Tell me about it."

"Are you leaving for break on Friday?" I ask.
"My Friday classes were actually canceled and Wes only has one class on Friday so he's skipping that and we're gonna head back on Thursday," she tells me.

We chat for a bit longer and watch the kickball game that's happening a couple yards away from us.
We're sitting in the grass and hear the 2000's music they're playing when the ball rolls over to us.

I reach over and toss it back to the blond that came to get it and he introduces himself to me.
"Thanks, I'm uh," he stammers. "I'm Gale."
"Ameeriah," I smile back.

He walks back over to the game and when I look over to Adare she's trying to hide the biggest smirk on her face.
I try and ignore whatever she's about to say by looking down at my food.

"Ameeriah!" She squeals. "He's cuteeee," she drags out.
"Yeah, kinda, whatever," I roll my eyes.

"Don't whatever me! He definitely likes you."
I furrow my brows. "No he doesn't Adare he was just being friendly."

"Yeah friendly.." She drags out with a suggestive look on her face.
"Will you just shut up and eat your chipotle?" I say back quickly and she laughs.
