Paige's POV:
Olivia got out of the room, and left me and Mia without any explanation. We wanted to invite her to come to a restaurant to eat, so we can celebrate that our finals are done.We were dumbfounded. I was speechless.
Liv never did thing like this. She always says when she's going and even waits for us to go home together. This isn't her. Maybe something happened to her? Maybe she has some family problems? Maybe she just doesn't want to be our friend anymore after what happened with Ava? And what actually got to her to say this?
As I said, this isn't her, and it's our duty to help her.
As Mia got her backpack from the floor, we got out of the room.
"Why didn't she wait for us?" Mia asked.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "It's really strange, don't you think?"
"Yeah," she sighed. "She isn't herself. I wonder what happened to her."
"Wanna go to the café for iced tea?" I inquired, interrupting the conversation to let us think a bit.
"Sure, I was just gonna ask you the same," Mia answered.
"I really cannot guess what has gotten into Liv today," I opened.
"Me too, but am I the only one that felt she has been a bit different the past few weeks?" Mia wanted to know.
"Exactly, I saw it too," I paused. "I just wish we knew what's gotten into her..."
"Same," Mia looked to the floor. "And if she doesn't trust us anymore?"
"Whatever happened to her, I am sure that she trusts us. She'll tell us when she's ready," I reassured my best friend.
"It's just not the same without her during lunch," Mia was still looking at the floor.
I decided not to say anything. I really miss her. She brings a little of herself when she's with us during lunch. Me and Mia are a little bit of closer than with her, but she knows that and doesn't have a problem with it. She really is amazing, and I really want to find out what happened to her.
But what if that's the reason? What if she's hurt of that me and Mia are closer than we are with her? What will happen from now on? Will she still want to be our friend?
Mia's POV:
Me and Paige talked about the situation with Liv. It's really not the best thing we want to experience. It's true that we and Liv have known each other for around four months, but we've grown really close, and it's really hard to imagine being without her. Not only during lunch. At all.We decided to find out what's wrong with her and help her if we can.
The other thing that was bothering us was the tension between Ava and Liv. Earlier today, Ava just went through the door without even saying bye. Not only to Liv, but to us as well. I'm worried for her too. What happened to Ava and Liv. I don't know. And it was killing me from the inside.
My nightmares are going to become real after a few days if things continue at the same direction. I just don't know anymore. I don't want our little friend group to fall apart. Like the Beatles did. It's not fair. To me. To Paige. To Liv. To us.
We'll fix this.
I'm sure we can.
I'm sure we will.Ivy's POV:
What the hell happened with our friendship? That is the question that's been circling in my thoughts the past few days. Me and Ava are really close, but me and Liv too. She's like a sister to me. We hang out a lot. But so do me and Ava."What's up, Ivy?" Ava asked as we were walking to school.
"Oh, nothing, just thinking," I responded.
"About what?"
"Me, you..." I started. "And Liv," I finished.
Ava's expression completely changed. She wasn't the person to smile that much, except if the situation was actually funny, but now her stone facial expression turned to even more...offended?
"What about her?" She asked, no emotion in her voice.
"What happened between you two? And why does it have to impact our whole friendship like that?"
"She knows why," she answered coldly.
I was amazed. I truly didn't expect an answer like that. I decide not to give up now.
"No, I want to know from you," I insisted also sternly.
She was silent for two minutes in which we just were walking toward our school. Each step was silently leaving echo, and the heaviness of the tension was palpable. It was getting on my nerves.
Gladly, Ava decided to speak up.
"She is just pretending."
"Pretending to what?" I was so confused at the moment.
"Liking football," it sounded like she spitted it out.
"Football? She's into that?" I was startled.
"Apparently," she scoffed.
"Why didn't she tell us?"
"She texted me about that dumb World Cup thing, and I understood about it," she continued.
"Liv texted you?" I was surprised.
"Probably an accident," Ava stated. "But that doesn't change the fact that she watches that thing."
"What do you mean?" I asked very confused and tilted my head in a way that Ava could understand the state I was in.
"She wouldn't care about that sport except that she wants make herself look more interesting," she quoted,"get the attention of some boy, or she simply has a crush on a player," she finished.
"And what's the problem with the last one?" I insisted.
"I know her. She goes deep in everything. Even if she hasn't been in a relationship or likes anyone. It won't matter that she doesn't actually know the guy. She'll have some kinds of expectations for it to really happen," she threw her hands in the air. "I don't want her to get hurt. That's all," however, she didn't sound that concerned to me.
"And what if it's not either of these things?" I turned my head to watch straightforwardly and shrugged my shoulders.
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"I meant..." I hesitated for a moment and could sense her gaze on me. "I meant, what if she really likes the sport? Like other girls like basketball, for example," I finally said what I needed to say.
Ava looked at me with a truly amazed expression, but it quickly changed to a sarcastic and flippant?one and laughed.
"Impossible," she said through laughs.
"Why?"
"Because it's a men's sport. She's a girl. They are incompatible," she snapped.
"If you say so," I muttered, but the one thing that was hasn't left my head ever since was why did she decide to keep it a secret if she wanted to get attention or whatever Ava says?
