Paige's POV:

"Guys," I said to the others, getting my hairband off, my brown curls falling like a waterfall over my shoulders. "I'll be back in a few," I informed them and stood from my place. They just nodded, going back to their obviously so intriguing conversation.

I was moving the hairband from my left hand to the right one and vice versa as I left everything, even my uncertainty for my intentions, behind. The movement of my hands continued without me understanding because of my wandering thoughts.

"Will she want to talk to me? What will she think when she sees me approaching? Will she even listen to what I want to tell-" my thoughts got interrupted by my eyes spotting the sitting on one of the tables Blake. She was wearing a black sweater with some label in another language I couldn't understand, black jeans, ripped on the left knee, and some black sneakers, probably not changed since her PE class.

I looked back, so I could make sure no one suspects the fact I was going to meet up Blake. I saw the others far from me, deeply engaged in their chat, not even turning their gazes to my direction.

"Perfect," I thought and still with the hairband in my hands, my hair fully behind me neck, I approached the table which the girl I knew almost nothing about was sitting on.

"What?" she just looked up, sensing someone else's presence. In answer, I sat right in front of her and crossed my fingers on the table.

"I'm here to talk to you," I started, hesitating a little to continue. She looked me with no-you're -here-to-sell-me-chocolate expression. "About Liv," as soon as I said her name, the girl against me turned her head to one side, supporting it with her shoulder. It was as if she was showing me that she didn't want to talk about our mutual friend. "She's not fine," I continued my attempt to soften Blakes at first sight cold and emotionless heart. "Liv..." I paused, my thoughts running and wondering what actually to let out. "She fainted in Ms. Carter's class the other day," I revealed. The raven haired girl faced me. Even if her expression was once filled with disregard and negligence, now there was concern written on her face. "The school doctor told us it was because she had gone through a panic attack," she focused her gaze on me, still not saying anything. "So I was wondering.." I interrupted myself. "I went to see her yesterday since she's staying at home for a few days to calm herself down and prevent situations like the Monday one," was the introduction to my actual plea for her. "I talked to her-" I stopped. "Well, she talked most of the time, but still..." I got a little off topic. "She misses you," I finally said. "A lot. She told me things about you and her that I didn't know," I opened. "About your trainings, how she learnt to run fast..." I could see the effect of my words slowly making its way to her heart, expressing its result in her gaze. "As you probably know," I actually started my real request. "Tomorrow is Liv's birthday, and I want to surprise her," I hinted. "I want you two to make up for everything you've gone through," I got a little more insistent. "I know it won't be that easy," I shared my own experience. "And I don't know what actually happened between you two," it was the simple truth. "But I just ask you to try this one time," I pleaded. "For Liv and her happiness" instead of answering, Blake's eyes suddenly shifted from me to somewhere behind. I looked at that direction and felt all of the blood from my face going to any part of the body, but not returning where it needed to be. I turned my face to Blake once again. Ava was staring at me. I shortened the distance a little with my fingers still crossed. "Please," I stood up. "You know my Instagram," she didn't say anything, and I turned to walk to where I came from.

"What were you doing with that girl..." Ava said as soon as I approached the group table. "What was her name?" she faked remembering her name. She knew damn well the name of Liv's best friend. "What?" she noticed the little hint of annoyance on my just a little trembling upper lip. "Are you friends?" she laughed with ridicule in her voice.

"And what if we are?" I finally decided to step up for not only myself, but also for the person I knew was Liv's joy in life. Ava looked me with look filled with askance. I was taken aback by this tilt of her head, expressing suspicion. "I only wanted to ask her something about our Art homework?" I asked more than stated, trying to lie. "You know," I paused. "We are in the same class," were the words I accompanied with a slight shrug and calmly sat on my seat, Ava's gaze still concentrated on me. I felt it but decided not to let her get under my skin again. As a result, I took out my book and put it in front of myself.

As Ava sat on the chair that happened to be right in front of me, I felt it wasn't the same as when I was sitting against Blake. Her gaze, despite the coldness, gave up that it wasn't like that always. Ava's, however, felt like it was the same all the time. Suspicious, distant, incredulous, and-

I just brought the phone closer to my chest, feeling that everything between Blake and Liv could be like it was before, I had this little hope that it will go just as planned.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Ivy deprived me from the little moment of this type of happiness that I haven't felt from a really long time. "Is it a boy?" she smirked, and I just waved her off, believing everything could work out.
