I gasped for air as the boy brought my head back up from the ground. He kept my head up as Bob came towards me. "Please..." I said sadly. He motioned the boy off of me. I struggled to stand up. I tried my best to keep my stance once I got up from the ground. Bob laughed at me and I could smell the alcohol in his breath. "You're drunk." I said weakly as he got closer to me. He looked me up and down.
"Seems you're already hurt." He smiled as he looked at my stomach. I winced as I looked down to my torso. My shirt was stained with blood where my Dad had punched me. That must've been the pain I felt. "But not hurt enough." He commented as he kneed me in the wound. I screamed in pain as I fell to my knees. I began coughing up blood as I fell face first into the ground. I heard the laughter of the boys as they left me laying there. My eyes slowly shut as I heard the engine of the mustang start. "I'm dead." I thought. "I'm dead."

I sat up slowly as I winced. I looked around, I was still in the lot. I was still alive. The sun had almost set and Johnny had become a dark lump, I couldn't see much. I slowly crawled over to his side as I groaned in pain. "Johnny." I said quietly as I gripped my stomach, I tried my best to keep the blood in. I winced as I slightly shook him. He groaned as he woke up, he didn't open his eyes but he was awake. I sighed in relief as flopped to the ground.
"Are you dead?" I asked quietly and weakly. "No." He managed to let out. I let out a small, weak chuckle. "Good." I said as I groaned. I began coughing into my hand. I opened my palm and held it close to my face, just enough to see. I saw red all over it, I was coughing up more blood. I sighed as my arm went limp beside me.
I looked up to the sky. There was still a small bit of light left and some clouds were still there. Tree branches covered the corners of the sky, and small stars began to show. It was beautiful. "Look at the sky Johnny." I let out faintly, trying to lighten the mood. He groaned as he rolled from his side onto his back. "That's real pretty." He managed to say. I took in a deep, painful breath as I began to feel more weak. I started to accept the fact that I was probably going to die. I decided to enjoy my last moments looking up at the stars with Johnny.
I laid peacefully as my eyes slowly began to shut. "Johnny! Y/n!" I heard yelling from a distance. I opened my eyes and saw Steve towering over me and Johnny. I heard loud footsteps and saw Soda and Pony standing behind him. They all had horrified looks on their faces.
(The first couple sentences of this paragraph weren't written by me, they came from the actual book written by S.E Hinton.)
"Johnny?" Soda said as he lifted Johnny up and held him against his shoulder. He gave Johnnys limp body a slight shake "Johnnycake." Soda said, concerned. Pony propped me up against his body. I winced as I kept my eyes on Johnny. I was worried about him, he didn't look to great when I saw him. "Y/n?" Pony asked, worriedly. "Y/n." Pony said loudly as he shook me. I looked up to him. "You don't look good." Pony said as he gently touched the wound on my stomach. I winced in pain.
"Is Johnny alright?" I asked weakly. Pony quickly glanced over to Johnny. "Yeah." He said. He was lying, I just knew it. "Are you sure?" I asked in disbelief as I began to cough. "Oh geez." Pony said as he wiped blood off my lips, ignoring my question. "What happened?" Pony asked as his voice quivered. I hesitantly began telling him the story. After just about every sentence I coughed up more and more blood. I began feeling weaker and weaker.
My eyes began to shut as I heard more footsteps come our way. I fell into deep sleep as I heard shouting and complaining from the gang, slowly fade away. I saw nothing and felt nothing. I only heard faint voices in the background of my mind. I thought I was dead. I thought I was gone for good. "Y/n." A faint voice called out to me. "Y/n." Another called in a deeper voice. "Is she okay?" I heard. "Is she okay?!" I heard again. The voices echoed around me and grew louder. "Y/n!" I heard loudly.
I quickly sat up and breathed heavily. I winced as the pain in my stomach came rushing back. I gathered myself as I looked around in confusion. The room was bright, my eyes took a while to adjust to the light. I blinked and blinked and slowly the room became more clear. I looked around, I was in the hospital. All the memories came flooding back to me as I looked around the room.
I looked to my sides and saw Steve and Two-Bit to my left. To my right was Darry and Matilda. They all stared at me with concerned looks on their faces. Before they could say a word I heard footsteps coming from the front of the room. I jerked my head around to face the door and saw a nurse quickly walking towards me. I followed her with my eyes as I watched her come to my side. Two-Bit and Steve backed away as she came close to me.
"How do you feel?" She asked. I sat in thought. I felt better than I did at the lot, that's all I knew. Better than when I was coughing up gallons of blood. "Better." I spoke. She nodded her head. "You ruptured your arteries." She stated. My heart dropped as I heard what she said. I felt the blood leave my body as I grew cold. "You should be okay though. Thankfully they're not to damaged." She said. She must've sensed how scared I was. I took a breath of relief as she began walking out of the room. "Let me know if you need anything." She said as she left the room.
Matilda placed her hand on my shoulder in a comforting way. "Are you alright?" She asked worriedly. "I've been better." I answered with a chuckle. She held back her smile as she kept rubbing my shoulder. "How's Johnny?" I asked. "He's alright. His face is pretty beat up but that's about it." Steve answered. I nodded my head. "Where is he?" I asked as looked around. "He's in the next room over." Darry replied. I nodded my head.
"You sure he's fine?" I asked, concerned. "Yes." Matilda answered with a laugh in her voice. I managed to smile as I looked around at everyone.
