On the way to my locker me and Ponyboy were talking and laughing, having a good time. I'm guessing no one's ever seen a soc with a greaser before because everyone would stare and point at us as we walked by. Pony and me both just chose to ignore it though. I was having a great time with him and I didn't want people to ruin it. Plus I was already used to all the talking and pointing, I was "the weird kid" in school.
After a little bit we had arrived at my locker. I swung open the door and began grabbing books and what not. "Do you mind if I go to the bathroom real quick?" Pony asked. "Go ahead." I said. He ran down the hall and into the bathroom.
"Hanging out with greasers now huh?" A familiar voice came from my right. I shut the locker door and turned to see who it was. It was that boy who stopped me outside and what looked to be one of his friends. I rolled my eyes at the sight of him. "Not that it's any of your business but yes." I said angrily. He chuckled at what I said. "Why would you ever want to hang out with those... losers anyways?" He asked. "Maybe because they're not perverted jerks like you." I said, annoyed. He chuckled. "Just leave me alone alright." I said. He laughed as he pinned me against the locker. "Get off of me." I said angrily. I tried to push him off of me but he was too big.
"You don't wanna be hanging out with them, they're losers." He said. "They're lower than us." He continued. "Leave me alone." I said angrily. He laughed. "Get off of me alright." I said. "What happens if I don't, ya gonna fight me?" He asked, laughing. I punched him in the face and he fell to the side. He brought his hand to his face as his nose bled. He chuckled as he got up from the ground.
"Ms.Smith!" I heard someone yell from behind me. I turned my head over my shoulder and saw Mr.Syme, my English teacher. "Shit." I said under my breath. "Straight to detention Ms.Smith!" He yelled. I rolled my eyes as went towards detention. "Have fun!" I heard from behind me. It was the boy that stopped me earlier, Bob I think was his name. I passed by Ponyboy on my way to detention. "What happened?" He asked as I passed by. He looked over to the mess I caused behind me. "Oh." He said quietly. "Meet me at my locker after first period." I said quietly. He nodded his head as I walked off.
Detention was boring as usual. I was sitting with my head in my arms and almost fell asleep. "What'd you get in for this time doll?" Dallas. I looked up from my arms and saw Dallas walking towards a desk. He pulled out the chair next to me and sat down. "I thought you didn't go to school." I said. "I was bored again." He said as he propped his feet on the desk. "Quite!" The teacher yelled. I rolled my eyes at him as I put my head back into my arms.
It felt like hours went by while I was in detention. All I could hear was the clock ticking, Dallas playing with his ring, and the teacher snoring. Then suddenly the bell rang, first period was over. The teacher jerked up from sleeping and grabbed some sheets for us to fill out. He got up from his desk and began walking towards Dallas. "Fill out the paper." He said slamming the price of paper on his desk. "Fill out the sheet." He said coming over to me. He slammed the sheet on my desk.
"Why are you in detention?" The first question on the sheet asked. I rolled my eyes as I wrote down, "Punching someone in the face." The second question asked, "Will this happen again?" I wrote down "No."
Both me and Dallas got up from out desks and towards the teachers desk. I set down the sheet and went out the door as Dallas followed behind.
"Were you talking to Ponyboy again?" He asked as we walked down the hall. I rolled my eyes. "No." I said. "Were you late to class or something?" He asked. "No." I said again. "I can't play the guessing game forever doll." He said. I rolled my eyes at him as we arrived at my locker. I swung the door open and looked around.
I was about to tell him what happed until I heard a familiar voice from down the hall. "Dally?" I turned to see it was Pony. "Hey kid." Dallas said as Pony stopped to the right of me. "What are you doing here?" Ponyboy asked. "Got bored again." Dallas answered. "Oh okay." Ponyboy said.
"What happened back there?" Ponyboy asked. "He wouldn't leave me alone." I said as I shut my locker. "Why?" He asked. "I don't know, he was telling me not to hang out with greasers or whatever." I said. He nodded his head. "What happened?" Dallas spoke up. I was about to answer until Ponyboy spoke up. "She punched some kid in the face." He said. "Right?" He asked turning towards me. I nodded my head as Dallas chuckled. "Is it that hard to believe?" I asked turning to Dallas. I crossed my arms over my chest. "It's just funny." He said smirking. I rolled my eyes at him. "What? It is." Dallas stated.
"I should get to art class." I said. "See you after school?" I asked turning to Ponyboy. "Yep." He said. "Bye." I said walking off. "Bye." I heard Ponyboy say. As I walked off Dallas followed me. "Aren't you gonna go home Dallas?" I asked turning towards him. "So you punched a kid huh?" He asked, ignoring my question. "Yes, and if you were me you would've punched him too." I stated. He laughed.
"Why if it isn't Dallas Winston." I heard a voice say from across the hall. I looked towards Dallas as his smile faded.
