I woke up at about 7:00 in the morning to the sound of birds chirping. I slowly got out of my bed and went to my dresser. I needed to get ready for school that started in about an hour. I opened my drawers and picked out a ribbed knit light blue turtleneck. I also picked out a skirt with a light blue floral pattern to go with it.
I threw on my sweater and skirt. I made sure to tuck in my sweater into my skirt otherwise my mom would say I was "immodest" or whatever. I grabbed my brush that was on top of my dresser and went to my mirror. I turned on the flat iron and began combining out all of the tangles that were in my hair. Once I finished brushing my hair the flat iron was ready to use. I straightened out most of my hair before curling the ends. I had curled the ends to look like little u shapes that lined the bottom of my hair.
I turned the flat iron off and went out of my room into the hallway. I was walking down the hall as I ran into my sister. "You're actually ready for school this time?" She joked. I playfully rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah yeah." I said. "I'll get the car started then." She said as she squeezed by me.
I opened the door to the bathroom and went in. I looked in the mirror as I brushed my teeth, I looked like a soc, something I dreaded. I spit into the sink and sighed as I examined myself in the mirror. I did like looking nice, just not like a soc. Sometimes I liked how I looked, I looked put together. I liked my hair and clothes I just didn't like what they meant. It meant I was a soc, a stuck up soc, and I hated it.
I sighed as I swung open the door. I hurried through the hallway and down the stairs. I scurried out the door and to the car. My sister was waiting in the drivers seat as I got in. "You're actually going to be on time today." She joked. I rolled my eyes. "You look nice." She said. "I know..." I trailed off. She drove away as I drifted into thought.
"Why were you in so much more of a hurry this time?" She asked. "I just wanna get school over with." I said. She nodded her head. "I hated school too." She said. I nodded my head. "I also just wanna see my friends, I want them to meet you." I said. "Oh right. You must really like them then huh?" She stated. "Yeah..." I trailed off.
She was right, I sure did like the Curtis gang, they were great. Even though I didn't know them very long I felt really close to all of them. Well except for Darrel, I didn't get to talk to him much but he seems nice. Maybe also Johnny, I didn't know him as well as the others, but he's shy. I just need to let him open up a bit more and be more comfortable around me, then I'm sure we'll be good friends.
On the way to school me and my sister sat in silence. I was drifted away into my thoughts. I was excited to see the Curtis gang after school, I was excited for them to meet my sister.
After a little bit we arrived in front of my school. "Have a good day at school." Matilda said turning to me. "I will." I said. She smiled. "I love you." Matilda said. "I love you too." I said as I got out of the car. After I got out Matilda drifted away.
I walked on the path to the entrance of the school. Everyone was staring at me, I guess it was weird to them that I was actually on time for once. Usually everyone would already be inside at their lockers but instead most of them were talking outside.
As I was walking someone stopped in front of me. "Finally on time y/n?" They asked sarcastically. I rolled my eyes. "Yep." I said looking up at them. It was one of the socs at our school, one of the mean ones. He had curly blonde hair and cold light blue eyes. I had heard of him, he was one of the popular boys. I didn't know it at the time but he dated Cherry. His name was Bob Sheldon.
He was still standing in front of me. "If you'll excuse me I have to get to my locker." I said. He chuckled. "You know, you're much more attractive up close." He joked. I could tell he was joking because he laughed at me. I rolled my eyes. I shoved him to the side and went inside the school. I heard him laughing as I did. God I hate people sometimes.
As I entered the school I heard Ponyboy talking from across the hall. "Y/n?" He asked coming towards me. "Hey Pony." I said. "I've never seen you this early before." He said. I giggled. "I know." I said. "Usually your hair isn't done either." He said noticing my hair. I brought my hand to my hair. "Yeah, usually I don't have time to do it." I said. He chuckled. "I like it." He said. "Thanks." I said.
"Do you wanna walk to class together?" He asked. "I'd like that." I said. "I have to get my stuff first though." I continued. "I'll come with you." He said. I nodded my head as we walked off.
"Are you still coming over after school?" Pony asked turning to me. "Of course." I said. "I actually told Soda last night that I'd bring over my sister if that's ok." I said turning to him. "Oh yeah, he told me something about that. I'm sure the gang will love her." He said. "Great." I said smiling. "I'll tell all the guys then." He said. I nodded my head.
