"Sheldon." Dallas said. He sounded angry. "I thought I told you to leave me and my gang alone." Dallas said. "I don't like listening to greasers." The guy said. I looked over to see who it was. "Shit." I said. "How was detention y/n? Did you have fun like I told you too?" The guy said walking towards us.
It was the guy I punched, I still didn't really know his name. "How's your nose dick?" I asked angrily. "Wait, is this the guy you punched?" Dallas turned to me, smirking. "Yeah." I said. He laughed. "Shut it Winston, it didn't even hurt!" The guy yelled. Dallas was still laughing. I rolled my eyes. "I'm trying to get to class, so will you please leave us alone." I said. "Maybe I can walk you there, get you away from this uh...greaser." The guy said looking at Dallas. "I'm perfectly fine, thank you." I said angrily. "Oh come on, you don't want to be around him." He said. "Actually I do, now leave me alone." I said, shoving him to the side. Dallas followed as we walked down the hall.
As we walked down the hall people were staring but I didn't care. "What are you gonna do?" I asked turning to Dallas. "I don't know. What do you usually do?" He asked. "Go to class." I said. "You're real boring doll." He stated. "Shut up." I said nudging his shoulder. "Don't you ever skip class?" He asked turning to me. "Unless you count going to detention as skipping." I said. He chuckled. "You've really never skipped class before?" He asked. "Nope." I said. He chuckled.
"What's so funny about being a good student?" I asked crossing my arms. He shrugged. "Just try it once alright." He said. I rolled my eyes. "Fine." I said. "Plus you're not a very good student anyways. You punched a kid in the nose for god sakes." He said. I rolled my eyes at him. "Like I said, you would've done it too." I reminded him. He chuckled. "You're probably right." He said. I giggled. "I'm always right." I stated. He chuckled. "Sure doll." He said, smirking. I playfully rolled my eyes at him.
We walked through the halls in silence. "So how do you get away with skipping class anyways?" I asked, breaking the silence. "Just run." He said. "Just run? It's that simple?" I asked confused. "When the teachers aren't looking." He stated. "Ok..." I trailed off. "I'll help you." He said. "Alright." I responded.
I suddenly thought of Ponyboy, I thought it'd be nice if he came. "Can Ponyboy come?" I asked excitedly. Dallas paused for a minute. "I don't think he'd want to come." He stated. "Why's that?" I asked as we stopped in the middle of the hall. "Doesn't he like school? Isn't he a nerd or something?" Dallas asked. I thought for a minute. "I'm a nerd too. I'm going aren't I?" I stated. Dallas paused. "Oh come on it'll be fun." I said excitedly as I grabbed Dallas by the wrist. I tried my best to drag him but only made it a couple feet. He chuckled. "Just... come on." I said. He rolled his eyes as he followed me.
We walked around for a few minutes trying to find Ponyboy. We only had a few moments before the bell would ring and everyone would be in class so we sped up.
After a little bit I saw Pony in the distance heading to class. "Pony!" I yelled. He turned to me in confusion as I ran towards him. "Shouldn't you be in art class?" He asked in confusion. I caught my breath as I got to him. "Do you wanna skip school with me and Dallas?" I asked quietly. "I-I..." He trailed off as he looked to Dallas behind me. "Please, It'll be fun." I begged. He paused for a moment as Dallas caught up to me. "Fine, but you guys better not tell Darry about this." Ponyboy said. I nodded my head. "Dallas?" Pony asked, concerned. "Fine." Dallas answered. "Good." Pony said. "Come on, let's go." I said. We all walked off.
We walked through the halls for awhile talking and laughing. A teacher stopped us a couple feet from the entrance. "What are you all doing out of class?" He asked crossing his arms. We paused for a minute. "My grandma!" I shouted. Dallas and Pony looked to me confused. "Yeah my grandma, she's uh... she's dying. Yeah, she was really sick and she's getting worse, we were just going to visit her and say goodbye." I said. The teacher thought for a moment. "Go ahead." He said. "Thank you sir." He let us pass and go out the door.
We walked down the street away from the school. "Good job y/n." Ponyboy said. "For a rookie." Dallas spoke. "Thanks pony, and Dallas too I guess." I said. "No problem." Pony said. Dallas nodded his head as he lit a cigarette.
We all walked down the street for awhile as I talked and laughed with Ponyboy. Dallas was smoking away not joining the conversation. "So what are we gonna do now?" I asked. Both me and Pony turned towards Dallas waiting for an answer. He turned to us and thought for a moment. "Anything we want." Dallas answered. Both me and Pony thought for a moment.
"We could get milkshakes at the Dingo." Ponyboy spoke up. "What's the Dingo?" I asked turning towards Pony. "It's a diner, it's pretty dangerous there though, people cause lots of trouble. A girl got shot there once" Ponyboy answered. "I could go for a milkshake." I said. "Dallas?" Ponyboy asked. "Fine." Dallas said bringing the cigarette to his mouth. He took a drag and blew a puff of smoke in my face. I playfully rolled my eyes at him as he chuckled.
On the way to the dingo Dallas stayed silent as me and Pony talked. He seemed a bit off.
