We walked along the sidewalk, our steps echoing through the night. The untied laces of my boots clacked against the cracked concrete as we neared the nightly double. I shoved my hands deep into my pockets as the sky grew darker and the breeze grew colder.

"Don't you have a quarter?" I asked as I looked to Dallas who was widening an opening in the fence to the nightly double. He shrugged. "It's more fun this way doll. Plus, why spend my money if we can do this instead?" He stated as he got up from the ground and looked to me. I shrugged.
"Good point I guess." I said as I walked towards the fence. I crouched down and crawled through the opening. As I stood up I looked down at my jeans, they had been stained with grass and mud. I tried my best to wipe them off as Pony, Johnny, and Dally went through the opening.
We kicked up dust as we walked on the loose dirt of the drive in. As we passed all of the cars I glanced at every single one. Mustangs, Covairs, Corvettes, Cadillacs, and just about every fancy and expensive car you could imagine, lined up in rows. The light from the movie illuminated the shiny, waxed exteriors of the cars. I heard girls and boys talking, and some arguing. We walked past groups of socs and greasers as we came to the seating section, aisles of chairs had been filled.
We all walked down the second aisle and took seats, Dallas at the end, Pony next to him, me next to Pony, and Johnny next to me. We sat quietly as we watched the movie. It was one of those beach movies, ones that wouldn't have a plot or meaning. I hadn't really enjoyed those types of movies, they were uninteresting to me. I just spaced out as everyone else watched it.
I stared at one part of the screen for what felt like years. It felt as if I hadn't blinked or breathed in hours. Time had paused and the world around me disappeared as I spaced out. After awhile, I finally snapped out of my trance as two soc girls came walking in front of us. I followed them with my eyes as they sat down, whispering things in each others ears. I examined them closely, looking at every detail I could possibly see in the small lighting that was still left in the night sky.
One had thick brown short hair while the other had voluminous long red hair. "Cherry..." I muttered to myself, to quiet for anyone to hear. I hadn't talked to her for awhile. I had only seen her in school, passing by her in the halls on the way to class. Even when I had seen her in the halls, though, she had been too caught up with her friends to speak up to me, and I hadn't cared enough to try.
For some reason, in that moment, I felt the need to talk to her. Even if she never really noticed or cared for me that much, I felt bad for not talking to her. I didn't intentionally mean to ignore her, but ever since the gang became my good friends, it kind of just happened. I hesitated before speaking up. "Cherry?" I asked as I leaned over to tap her shoulder. Both her and the brown haired girl whipped their heads around to face me.
"Oh hey Y/n!" Cherry greeted me excitedly. "What are you doin here?" She asked curiously. I shrugged. "Watchin a movie with my friends." I answered as I gestured to Pony, Johnny, and Dallas. She smiled. "These are your friends huh?" She asked genuinely. I nodded my head in response. "Cool." She said. "They sure look a lot like greasers." The other girl piped up. Cherry hit her in the shoulder.
"What are you doin over here? Don't you have a car?" I asked. Her smile faded and her eyes filled with rage. "My boyfriends drunk again, we got in an argument." She answered loudly, crossing her arms above her chest. "Sorry about that." I said. She sighed. "It ain't your fault." She stated as she looked ahead to the movie. She fell against the back of the chair with her arms still crossed.
"You got a boyfriend huh?" Dallas spoke up in a flirtatious voice. I leaned over with my elbows to my knees, looking to Dallas with confusion. "What's it to you?" Cherry asked with frustration. He smirked at her in response. I sat confused as my feet shook on the ground, I began growing anxious. I didn't know what Dallas was up to, but I didn't like it one bit. I felt frustration flow through me as he continued pestering her with a flirtatious tone of voice.
I watched as Johnny got up hastily to get out of the awkward situation. I wanted to do the same, but felt the need to keep watch of Dallas as he flirted with Cherry. "Maybe it's just a joke of sorts." I thought to myself. "Yeah, just a joke." I thought. I felt my shaking quicken as he continued to lean over and persist in talking slyly.
"Leave me alone hood." Cherry spat as she turned to face Dally. "Whatcha gonna do about it darlin'." Dallas continued. I only grew angrier at his words. Every thought filled my mind in that moment. I loved Dallas, it was hard to watch every flirtatious move he made and every stupid word he spoke. "Is this real?" Dallas asked as he began playing with her cherry red hair. "Is this your real hair?" He continued. I began to fume along with Cherry. "Leave me alone!" Cherry yelled as she pushed him away. He merely shrugged and sat back in his chair.
He still looked at her, with what looked like the intent to make another move on her. I only grew more angry, more shaky. My mind was entangled in thoughts. Damn Dallas. I hate Dallas, I really do. I felt angry. Disappointed. Anxious. Mortified. I scoffed quietly as I only thought more.
My eyes darted to Johnny as he came back with a couple of cokes in his hand. I immediately stood up and pushed past Pony and Dallas, trying hard to get out of the aisle. Johnny stopped in front of me as I got out. "Here Y/n." Johnny said as he handed me a bottle. "Thanks Johnny". I said hastily. I looked to Dallas one more time, his eyes still on Cherry. I sighed with frustration as I looked at him more closely.
