Twenty seven

He insisted we sit in the same spot as last time. The girls are a row below us. Mel is still cheering him on just like she did the first time.

I look from admire the hotness next to me, seeing Mel who is holding a blow horn in her hand. She turns around facing me.

"What? I'm just cheering for my man" she says before turning back and standing on her feet, blowing the horn like a proud mother.

They are finally together and honestly, I'm relieved. They made it official via social media. Our group had the suspicion of it. Vincent especially.

"You know I would never go for your aunt right?" Corbin says his face flat. "Of course not, it was a joke" I make clear.

"I'm not going for anyone but you. I like you Kat" his eyes meet mine as he looks up from the game. "I like you too Corbin" And I do.

"Good" he smiles at me placing his arm around my shoulder and placing a tiny kiss on my cheek.

"Looking good #12, That's my boyfriend out there" Mel screams at the top of her lungs all while blowing her horn and pumping her first.

"Sit down" Raven says in her mom's voice. God, I love her. Not that Mel cheering isn't hilarious.

"Are you two coming to the after-party?" Mel yells over the crowd in front of me. "What after party?" This is news to me.

"Are you coming or not?" I know she will be bummed if I say no. "I can make an appearance" I look to Corbin who I know is eavesdropping. His eyes are set on the game.

"Our little birdy is growing up" Mel nudges Ravens shoulder with a grin. Raven hates these kinds of school events as do I. She sends her a nod and copies her smile.

"Do you want to go to the party?" Corbin chimes next to me. "Yes, I can't leave her hanging after I already agreed" his eyes bore into mine at my words. Maybe he doesn't want to go.

"Are you coming?" I question. "Yes, I'm taking you silly. Remember what happened last time?" He brings up the last party we went to together and my face grows hot.

"Right" that's all I could say without bringing more attention to my redness. This will be our first real outing together. I don't know if I should be happy or nervous.

The game goes by quickly. The girls went down to congratulate Vincent and Draven. Corbin and I stayed back, now heading to the car in silence.

"Is something wrong?" He hasn't spoken a word. "Not at all" he answers with a simple smile opening my door for me.

"Thank you" I lean over the center console pecking him on the cheek. "For what?" His eyes move to mine.

"For tonight, bringing me here and going to the party with me" I would've never thought this would be my life. Sitting in Corbin's car as he drives me home from a school game. His hand in my lap caressing his thumb against me.

"Of course but I would've wanted to do this regardless if you asked me. I like spending time with you Kat" he moves his hand from my thigh, takes the loose strand from my face he pushes it behind my ear.

We pull into my driveway and the lights are out. She must be sleeping. He places the car in park reaching over and pulling me in for a goodbye kiss. I pull away.

"Stay?" I offer. I don't want him to have to leave and come back to get me. The party starts in an hour.

He answers with a nod. Still pulling me in for a kiss before he gets out. He follows me close as I walk up the steps to my door.

We keep a spare key under our mailbox, Grabbing it I turn to Corbin. "Please don't rob me" I joke before opening the door and placing the key back.

I walk into my living room, it's dark in here. She's asleep. I turn around at a banging noise. Corbin's just dropped the umbrella stand

"Shh" I say placing my finger to my lips like we're some kind of spies close to breaking our cover. "You shh" he retorts causing me to laugh.

He follows me up the stairs to my room. Closing the door behind him and leaping onto my bed. "What are you doing?" I ask as he's getting more comfortable on my pillows.

"Taking a nap" he closes his eyes with his shit-eating smile spread across his cute face.

I leave the room deciding to shower. I have a little time to get ready so I should be fine. It's not like I'm staying all night anyway.

I walk back into the room to see a sleeping Corbin. I quickly get dressed in a blue fitted tank top and shorts. Adding a minimal amount of makeup I decide to wake the monster.

I jump on top of him. He groans like a bear and pulls me into him. "Hi" he hums beneath me. "Hi, are you ready?" I say in a low tone as he did me.

"Are you? Took you long enough" I can feel his lips turn into a smile on my bicep. I get up in response rolling myself onto my feet.

He gets up pulling me into his chest. "I just wanted a hug before we go" he says still embracing me.

He walks out the door and I skip behind him. "What if I just yelled" he says stopping on the last step. "You wouldn't dare" I'll kill him. My aunt isn't so friendly when she's woken up.

He moves his mouth like he's going to yell but instead, he moves to the door. "We staying there all night?" He questions.

"No I just want to go for a little maybe have a drink and leave." I retort with a smile getting into the car.

He pulls out of my driveway his hand falling on my thigh. "Are you going to connect to the radio or are we going to sit in silence?" He chirps next to me.

I connect to the aux putting on Chase Atlantic, he hates my "slow" music. He can deal I'm trying to listen to some bangers.

We finally pull into the house and I take in the view. Immediately realizing it's the same house as last time.
