Miss Paine sure knows how to cook. She set up an array of dishes on the table in front of us.
"This looks delicious" I hum to a very hungry Corbin.
"You better not have touched any of that food yet Corbin, so help me god, I will spank you I don't care if your girlfriend is here" Ms. Paine yells.
I chuckle at her remark as Corbin had already stolen a green bean. "Shut up before she comes in here and spanks me" Corbin says very seriously.
"It's payback for making me sit through the entire photo album while you laughed at all of my baby pics" I retort.
"He just a-" he cuts me off with his hand across my mouth. So rude.
"All righty, I believe food is served" Ms. Paine says as she sets the potato's down.
She says grace before allowing us to get our food.
"I heard you write?" She says breaking the silence, while adding butter to her potato.
"I dabble a bit" I mutter. I didn't think he'd told his mother so much about me.
"She's an amazing writer, though I've only read a few words it's soulful" Corbin adds while placing his hand on my leg.
Soulful? I'm not even sure my writing is that of my own thoughts.
"Maybe you'd let me read it sometime?" She states with a tight smile.
"Maybe one day" I respond blushing so hard at the thought of her reading my poetry about her son.
Dinner goes well we chat about life after high school and a few things about Corbin as a child. He was a hellion, who would've thought.
His mother is in the kitchen, cleaning up the dishes I assume. She is so sweet, unlike her beloved son.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to go grab some clothes" Corbin chirps beside me on the couch.
"Clothes?" I question.
"Do you not want me to stay tonight?" He says not really questioning.
"Go get them" I respond. He quickly runs up the stairs and I take this opportunity to go help with the dishes.
I walk into the kitchen to see his mother placing the last plate in the dishwasher.
She turns around still humming the same familiar tune since she'd left the dining room.
"Oh my, you scared me" she yelps.
"Can I help you with anything" I retort knowing she's already done most of the work.
"I think you've done more than enough already" she remarks causing my smile to fall.
"I'm sorry?" I say with absolutely no confidence in my voice. Does she not like me?
"You know, I've never seen him smile like that, well not never. It's just that he seems more like himself when he's with you. I haven't seen him smile like that since I bought him that monster truck in the 4th grade" she responds.
"I want to thank you for being there for my son, I know it's hard loving him, oh god do I know." She finishes with a chuckle before sending me a sweet smile and wink.
"You don't have to thank me, Ms. Paine, he just needed a little push" I explain.
"You two are perfect for each other" she says causing my cheeks to flush again.
"Ready?" Corbin asks behind me causing me to jump from his presence.
"Just have to grab my coat" I respond.
He holds out his hand. "This one?" He says with a huge grin.
I pull my arms through quickly seeing his persistence to leave.
"Thank you again for you know" she remarks pointing at Corbin.
"Thank you for dinner, it was fantastic!" I respond giving her my best smile.
"Come back anytime you want sweetie" she says as Corbin is practically pulling me out of his house.
"For you know?" He questions his mother's words.
"That's for me to know and you to find out" I joke giving him my tongue. He opens my door allowing me to get in.
"I get movie pick tonight" he blurts out.
"Whatever," I say rolling my eyes knowing it's going to be an action movie.
We walk through the door, all the lights are out. She's already sound asleep by the sound of her snoring coming from her room.
"Great she won't hear you scream" he whispers while helping me out of my jacket.
My eyes grow wide. "Shut up" I say punching his arm.
I make my way up the stairs Corbin following suit quickly behind me.
"I need a shower" I say with a tiny smirk growing on the side of his mouth.
"So go shower" I respond knowing he's asking me if I want to join.
"Okay" he fake huffs grabbing his boxers from his bag he slowly walks towards the door.
"I'll be there in a second" I whisper with a giggle.
He pumps his fist in excitement at my words before hitting the top of my door frame and heading to the bathroom.
I grab a towel and a pair of underwear before following him into the bathroom.
The shower is already on, hot, just how I like it. He strips his shirt off revealing his inked skin.
I must've made a sound because he quickly turns on his feet to face me.
"Are you checking me out? Weirdo" he jokes before stepping in front of me. Face to face.
"No way, I would never" I lie not able to keep my eyes from wandering to his chest.
"You are" he continues. Sticking his tongue out, he sets his lips.
He beckons me to turn around so he can help with my zipper. I do as I'm told.
Slowly he unzips me and pushes my straps off my shoulders. Leaving me with a kiss on my neck he goes to the shower to fix the temperature.
I strip quickly wanting to get into the warm shower. I open the door and close it behind me as he's still not undressed. Instead of watching me.
"Are you coming?" I question him, as he's been leaning on the counter for a good minute or two.
"I hope s-" he says stopping mid-sentence, his eyes not leaving mine. My head jerks to him, my mouth wide open at his words. I hope so.
"I mean yes, yes" he continues. Stripping off his clothes as quickly as one could, he finally finds his way next to me.
