I try to focus my eyes on the face in front of me. The light is gone and darkness is surrounding us. I snatch my hand away. I hear a man huff and their body shifts toward me.
"It's me Kat" His hand reaches toward my face. It's Corbin. I remain quiet as he palms my cheek. "Where'd you run off to?" He questions me.
"None of your business, go back to your little girlfriend" I hiss back to him pushing his hand away and backing into the dumpster. "So that was you" his voice dropping to a soft whisper.
"Yes and I saw everything I needed to see Corbin" I point to him with assertiveness as if he could see me. "Kat you saw a fragment of what actually happened, please listen." He pleads.
"Go on" I can't imagine what he could possibly say to make this better. He clearly had her on his lap, her body so close to his that if she wanted to jump his bones she could.
"I sat at the fire to get away from her, she wouldn't leave me the fuck alone" his voice is confident as he explains.
"She sat on my lap, I pushed her off and told her I wanted nothing to do with her anymore" he continues.
"I saw you walking away just as she fell to the ground, I've been looking for you since" he finishes with certainty and my heart jumps.
"But why? I thought you liked her." I stammer. His hand reaches for mine once more this time I don't bat him away.
"Hell no, she's not my type. no one is anymore." he states moving two steps forward until our feet are touching.
"What do you mean by no one?" He is so good at confusing me. "What I mean is, I want you. I never felt anything for her. I never even kissed her." His words make my body heat up instantly.
"Really?" I choke out. "I can prove it to you right now by walking you to the beach with my hand wrapped around yours" he suggests.
"No, I believe you" I'm still not ready to tell our friends yet honestly I'm terrified of their reaction to us hating each other to now this. Whatever this is.
"Good, now let's go for a walk" his hand pulls mine dragging me behind him. He walks away from the party and starts down the beach line. I tilt my head up finally seeing his face. He's smiling.
"So what does this mean then?" I question the new information that I've just been given. "I won't see anyone outside of you, and hopefully you will do the same" he chirps. I just know he's smiling from ear to ear.
"I suppose I can make that work" I tease. He stops right at the edge of the water. "Take off your shoes" he orders. I comply leaving his hand I slip off my shoes and place them in the sand. I look back at him and see he's now shirtless.
"What'd ya say nerd, midnight swim?" He asks noticing my staring. "What about sharks?" I remember Raven saying that this is the time they feed. I don't want to be eaten, especially after Corbin's confession.
"It's low tide and I just got you I won't let anything happen to you." He promises. I strip off my top and shorts walking towards the water. "I'm scared" I confess.
He swiftly pulls me to him putting my legs around his waist he grabs onto me carrying me into the water. It's warm as it reaches my underwear. "See this isn't so bad" he calms me.
I put my head on his shoulder as he moves further into the water. The moon sits perfectly above us in its full form. He adjusts his hands moving them to my bottom.
"Do you want down?" He questions from my shifting in his arms. He's finally stopped walking into the water which is now touching just above my elbows. "No" I instantly object. I feel so comfortable here in his arms. I don't want down anytime soon.
His hand circles my leg and he snuggles his head into the crook of my neck. "You know my legs will get tired eventually" he admits. "okay" I say sadly moving my legs and head to get down.
"Not yet" he moves his hand from me placing it to my cheek. Pulling me in. I push forward placing my lips to his. My hand meets his shoulder. His tongue swirls along my bottom lip asking for me to open for him.
He continues his assault on my lips creating electricity across my whole body. "Corbin" I moan out as he devours my mouth. "Yes?" he mutters between breaths. He places his hand back on my ass with a squeeze.
Shivers reach up my spine as he walks us toward the beach before sitting down in the water and placing me on top of his lap. Rocking my hips into his I hear him groan beneath me.
"please" I beg. He removes his lips from mine searching my face. I'm stone-cold sober at this point. "It's okay, my buzz wore off when I saw you with her" I confess with a giggle. "Are you sure?" He questions me.
"Positive" I whisper pushing my lips back into his hard. I move myself against him causing him to grab my hips tightly. His lips travel down my neck surely marking me.
He jerks his hips into me and biting back a moan I follow suit. Creating a perfect storm beneath us. "Oh my god, Katherine" he groans out. Hugging my back to him.
Just as I'm about to tense I jolt back hearing someone say my name in the distance. "Shit" we both mutter looking at each other. It's Raven she must be ready to go home.
He stands dropping me to my feet. Giving me a tight hug he kisses my forehead. "See you at the house" he says releasing his hold on me. I run to my clothes scurrying to dress myself. Corbin is still in his same position.
"There you are. Are you ready to go?" Raven asks as I walk to her. "Definitely" I respond following her. Thankfully she didn't see him standing 5 feet away from me as I walked to him.
