"Wasoolei, how are you, my baby?" I whispered to Wasoolei after entering the storeroom. He looked like he might faint at any moment. They hadn't given him food or water for a long time, and he was breathing heavily. I held him in my arms softly.

"Why, God? Why are you testing me so much?" I thought to myself as I ran towards my room with Wasoolei in my arms. 'First, you put Abhinav Ji in front of me. I have so many questions about him. What should I do now? And on the other hand, how sick and helpless my Wasoolei has become. What is the fault of this innocent creature in all of this?'

Suddenly, I bumped into what I thought was a wall, but I quickly realized it was a person. I glared at the man standing in front of me.

"Get aside, Mr. Stranger," I said sternly.

"Rooh..." he began, but I cut him off.

"It's Ruhanika for you. And now please move. My pet is in serious condition. Can you please get aside so I can go to my room and give him some water?" I was too worried about Wasoolei to argue.

After drinking some water and eating his favorite snack, Wasoolei hugged me tightly, as if his life depended on me. He must have been very traumatized by Kavita's behavior towards him.

"Mrs. Ruhanika Shekhawat..." he called me again, this time entering my room without invitation. As much as my new name sounded good coming from his mouth, I was very disappointed in him. The way he married me was not appealing.

"Look, Rooh, I know I made a mistake, a huge mistake, but can't you give me a chance to explain? To explain why I chose this way? I know we are practically strangers, but I also know that our hearts are not strangers to each other anymore. Please, just one chance," he pleaded, making me feel guilty. Stupid man!

Many thoughts were swirling in my mind when suddenly Wasoolei started roaming around him, as if he had already accepted him as his dad.

But I was angry with him. He couldn't just bond with Wasoolei like that.

"Wasoolei, come here right now. He is not your dad," I said, annoyed. But this stubborn dog.

"Wasoolei, come here, I said. Don't roam around him. This is your mumma's order."

Wasoolei suddenly started licking and jumping on the man who was now my husband.

"Sorry, Rooh! But Wasoolei and I are a team now. You can't scold him anymore. I will save him from you," he smirked at me as Wasoolei refused to stop.

"You!" I felt like crying. Wasoolei, the only one who loved me unconditionally, wasn't listening to me anymore.

I turned towards the window, facing away from both of them.

"Hey, Wasoolei, stop. Your mummy is angry with both of us. We should pacify her, buddy," Abhinav whispered in Wasoolei's ear. I could see in the mirror beside me that this moment filled my heart with joy. There was now another person who loved Wasoolei as his kid and treated him like a baby.

I tried to suppress a smile. They both looked so cute together. But no, Ruhanika, you can't melt this easily. He knows very well how much you love Wasoolei; that's why he's being so nice and friendly with him.

"Woof! Woof!" Wasoolei started jumping and barking, trying to get my attention. Meanwhile, Abhinav began his ramblings about how sorry he was for what he did.

"I am sorry, Rooh. I know I made a mistake. Please forgive me. Baby... Darling... Rooh... What do you want me to do? Do you want me on my knees?"

I started to worry as Rooh wasn't responding to any of my apologies, nor was she reacting to Wasoolei. Desperation filled me, and I decided to sit on my knees, hoping to get my Rooh to say something, anything.

"I'm sorry, Rooh..." I repeated softly.

"Stop! Why are you apologizing continuously?" she snapped, cutting me off. "Say it! I'm here in front of you as your wife now. This is what you wanted, right? That's why you bought me. That's why you gave so much to those people who call themselves my family. That's why you didn't even try to inform me about yourself before our marriage—or should I say our signatures on the agreement. Tell me, what time limit have you decided to keep me as your wife?"

She stopped me from saying anything further, and all her pent-up thoughts burst forth. She started crying.

"Rooh! Look, I know you must be very hurt. But please, give me a chance to explain," I pleaded."What... explanation... will you... give me?" she asked between hiccups.

"Why did all this happen to me? Why did you do this? I started to feel... I started to admire you. I thought you would save me from all this. But you did the same thing. Look at him, Abhinav Ji. They didn't give him food and water all day. They kept him in that storeroom just to make me sit and doll up like this, just to make me ready for this wedding. Do you even know they are not my real family? They just kept me here for making money! I don't even know about my real family. I don't know who they are, where they are, or if they are alive. My whole existence is a lie." Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

Pain surged through my heart knowing I couldn't even tell her about her real family. I couldn't ease her pain, but I had to try. I had to explain everything to her before she made herself sick.

"Rooh, I know you must have had so many dreams about your wedding, but I had to do this either this way or in a worse way. You know very well about the Mittal family, Rooh. You know what they are like. Think—if I had proposed to you, would you have accepted it wholeheartedly? Tell me! Would you have rejected your alliance with that bastard Thakur's? Sorry for my language, but I know that way was... ugh... I mean, I did something bad, but I couldn't see you with those Thakurs, so I did everything to make you mine."
I said all of this in one go, desperate to get a chance from Rooh. As I stopped to catch my breath, I suddenly felt a small hand on my chest, calming my frantic breathing. It was Rooh. I noticed a small smile on her face.

"Will you give me a chance to explain everything? Why I did this? And how I did this? Please..." I whispered softly.
